Entering Initial Position During INS Alignment

A few versions ago, when I moved the INS knob to GC ALIGN, after about 7 seconds the message "GC PP REQ" appeared on the HUD, prompting the pilot to enter the current aircraft position on the UFCP before the alignment could begin..

However, on the latest Openbeta the aircraft never does this prompting, the alignment beginning right away. I have set the option "Cold Aircraft needs GC Alignment" but I'm still not being prompted to enter the PP:

I'm doing something wrong or has the INS alignment procedure changed?

The current v1.4 of the F-15E manual states "NOTE: in current version of the module it is not needed to enter the coordinates", but I remember that previously I was being prompted for the coordinates, and nowadays I'm not  😞

Thanks for any help with this.

Changed a few patches ago to be better in line with what you would see in the real jet normally. The coords can still be overridden with coords from the kneeboard, and should to get the most accurate PP.  The jet will have previous coords, but there is ‘error’ built in. Up to the pilot to make the decision to update or, in the case of not needing to be 100% accurate, fly with what’s already loaded  to the INS.

OK, thanks a lot for the quick explanation 👍  ... does that mean that the real aircraft does not actually show the "GC PP REQ" prompt on the HUD?

It can. But typically the system has ‘old’ PP data from when it last flew. Getting the PP REQ messages would not be the norm, but its still a thing depending on the situation.

OK, got it ... thanks a lot for the explanation, I was being confused by this change, as I wrote my Cold Start notes when the F-15E was just released. Will update them now, cheers! 👍
