159_Archer Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 My old 17" has just popped its clogs, so I'm needing a new one. I was thinking of going for either 19" or 21", perhaps. What's good for BS; is there one size thats' better than another? -and is there anything in particular I should look for in a new one? Oh, yeah, not too expensive though! LupinYonder Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 How much are you thinking of spending. Do you like Glossy or Matt finish on your panel. What size are you thinking of ? Here are a few monitors that i am considering, although im in the market for a 24" you might be tempted to go bigger than 21" when you start looking around ;-) http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158381 samsung 2494HS- Good specs, basic stand, nice price, quite new model. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158551 Dell 2209WS e-IPS panel to really good viewing angles and nice bright and crisp colours. http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3508399/Acer-P243W-24-Widescreen-LCD-Monitor/Product.html mate of mine has just got one of these and he's really pleased though i aint seen it myself yet, i think this is what i will be going for.
Kuky Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I think 22" is really the best size to buy right now... they are large enough, wide screen and can cost the same as 19"-21" No longer active in DCS...
Amuro Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) What video card are you currently using and what resolution will you be running BS on or game on? Native resolution for a 19" widescreen is usually 1440x900, and 1680x1050 for a 22", and 1920x1200 for 24", and so on. You might need to upgrade your video card as well if you get a 22" or 24". I recommend Dell. Quality is pretty good, and you have 30 days to exchange it as many times as you want till you're completely satisfied without you even leaving your house. If you decide to get any other brand, make sure you buy from a brick & mortar store so you can hook up a laptop to the monitor to check for bad pixels and backlight uniformity before leaving the store. Prophet Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Really depends on the video card you got. I do not recommend the Samsung 2494HS because its really just a TV panel put into a monitor, hence the 1080... http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145167
