Disclaimer:
I have purchased the Pimax Crystal at full price but have been asked by Pimax to try out their latest software/firmware update, which I believe is due to be released on Sept 15

I downloaded and installed the version 1.15.01.01 of the new Pimax Play client software, no problems with the install.
After starting Pimax Play client it prompted me to upgrade the firmware to 1.3.0_au0829 again with no problems. This provided me with
new options.

1 Eye Tracking
After calibrating the eye tracking, by moving your eyes only to dots on the screen, you can test the accuracy of this calibration,
I would suggest doing this several times till you are happy.

2 Auto IPD Adjustment
Once selected and you put the headset on you see a group of vertical and horizontal green lines focus on these and you will hear the motors adjusting to your IPD.

3 Wearing Location Reminder.
After selecting this, when you put the headset on and before the IPD adjustment you will see a graphic advising you whether the headset is to high or low.

4 120Hz Refresh Rate
This now works really well and provides a much smoother experience in VR.

5 Lighthouse Selection.
You are now able to select Lighthouse if you have purchased the faceplate I don't have one so I cant say how this is functioning.

6 Standalone
Standalone is now working though it pretty basic right now but the functionality is there.

7 Optimization of Battery
The battery will charge within the headset even with the computer and the headset turned off also charges while you are using it too.

My opinions

The update was simple and with no issues Eye tracking works very well I can now run Dynamic Foveated Rendering in MSFS and DCS saving around 10% FPS. In DCS thats a little more involved you will have to download Quad Views from github.

Overall I think the Pimax Crystal has amazing graphics sharp and clear amazing colors. The headset does not feel heavy or unbalanced in fact I find it very comfortable.
I admit I was a little unsure when I pre-orderd it but I can honestly say its an amazing piece of kit!

I’m surprised that you’re only seeing a “saving of around 10%” I assume you mean an improvement. I use the HP reverb Omnicept which also uses Qauad Views FR and it’s more like an FPS improvement in the vicinity of 40%, maybe less in multiplayer. I’d be disappointed if it’s not that sort of improvement for you…..
