nyanrata Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 (edited) This crash happened at splash screen, while the game itself was still running fine. I can even open Encyclopedia and Mission Editor. But starting a mission will get it stuck at "waiting for pooled tasks". And exiting will stuck at a black screen too. dcs.log I have tried multiple times, MT and ST, change pagefile to another drive, verify game files, rename DCS folder in Saved Games, reinstall graphic card driver, sfc and chkdsk, still crashing. Seems every log is pointing to zlib.dll and having C0000006 IN_PAGE_ERROR. The game was running fine just two days ago. Edited September 16, 2023 by nyanrata
Flappie Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Hi. Please try this: Empty "C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\DXCache" (you might get error messages because some files are currently in use by desktop apps like Chrome or Firefox - in this case, just hit "Ignore"). Empty "C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS.openbeta", Empty "C:\Users\your_username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\fxo", Empty "C:\Users\your_username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\metashaders2". And if the above does not help, try these steps: ---

Flappie Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 (edited) It remidns me of a former user issue: zlib would mess with the DCS updater. In the end, we discovered it was caused by a faulty RAM stick (source). Run MemTest86 for an hour or two. If you get red lines, it means you have at least one faulty memory stick. nyanrata Posted September 17, 2023 Author Posted September 17, 2023 It took almost 2 hours to complete 1 pass with no error. I think my RAM is fine. Oh btw, mine is steam version.
Flappie Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 I don't have any idea left. You should create a support ticket. ED tech support will take it from there. Log into DCS website, click "Support", then click "Create a new ticket". ---
Solution nyanrata Posted September 18, 2023 Author Solution Posted September 18, 2023 Looks like I'm having a faulty drive. I found bad sectors using DiskGenius. Also, continuously running integrity check just after one still reports faulty files. Well, seems chkdsk is not worth trusting anymore.
Flappie Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Or maybe you have a faulty SATA cable? (unless you only use NVMe drives) ---
nyanrata Posted September 18, 2023 Author Posted September 18, 2023 It's a portable SSD actually. If it's the cable, I believe errors should come with randomness, and I haven't found such pattern. But yeah, it's really hard to say. I'll give it more tests to see how things going on.
Absolut Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 never ever got this issue before and now crash report pops up while i am in multiplayer but game still runs fine, i am connected to the server with no issue.
