I purchased the new PTO2 and have received it and linked all the controls.  The only issue I have is that the master caution button does not seem to clear the master caution.  The only way to clear it is to click it with the mouse or bind it to another button.  Anyone else’s have this issue?

Mine has arrived too. While I have yet to try it in flight, I do have to say it’s a bit disappointing how limited the mounting is. I am on a DoF motion sim platform, and this panel comes without any mount option to one of the main motion platforms out there. There should be some holes for screwing this at least on the bottom. So for now I’ll have to order an extra mounting plate from Amazon and stick it to metal, which I’m not sure how feasible it will be

edit: I was able to mount it using a universal mount from Amazon. Not ideal, as it is still connected by the sticky pads only, but it seems ok for now.

the holes in the side are for M5x40 bolts, for M5 Slot nuts... which you can't get from Monstertech. They do come in their system for mounting a MIP style setup. So I had to find a source for the slot nuts from Walmart of all places.. the bolts I can source from a local hardware store. They fit on the MT extrusions just great if you have the necessary hardware. Those two bolts and nuts they gave you to anchor the cord are what you need. M5x40.

I'm rather disappointed with the build quality compared to the PTO 1

Totally agree. This seems like a step down in build quality. The original gear and hook levers had sturdy metal shafts and the original hook handle appears to be a solid casting. The new ones seem very flimsy; they ship with stickers on them stating "Don't commit acts of violence, or it will cause the switch column to brake" (yes, that really is the quote). So apparently winwing considers them fragile straight out of the box. The cool new handles (Parking Brake, Wing Fold, and also Hook) are all hollow plastic and open on the back which you feel every time you move them. The case has been downgraded from metal to plastic, and all the new stuff has a light duty, toy like, feel.

Positives: The metal switches still feel solid and SimAppPro seems to sync the lights well with the Hornet module.

Overall I far prefer the original combination of PTO 1 and Combat Ready Panel.

Some like it, others don't. I was finally able to mount mine up last night and bind the controls. Really enjoying the larger switches and the better layout. Hopefully a new combat panel will be released to complement it in the not to distant future.

I know this is an older thread, but I couldn't find anything else on it.

I've ordered the PTO2, and it should be here next week. I also have an Orion 2 throttle. For those of you that have both, I'm looking for ideas as to what to bind the duplicate switches to. For example, on the throttle base, I have switches for:

1. Launch Bar

2. Hook

3. Wing fold

4. Landing gear

5. Parking brake

6.  Flaps

All of these are replicated on the PTO2. So, what do you bind the above six switches to? Looking for ideas.

Thanks

Thank you for sharing this. I know that this post is old post but do you have a link to the universal mounting bracket?

I totally agree. So far they have delivered very good products (I have lot's of them including both panels, MIP, F16 Throttle). Let's hope this is not a turning point to lower quality of their products.

Surely I'm not going to buy it.

One can clear see it's not worth at all by watching the reviews on YouTube.

Just out of curiosity:

What do you expect the PTO2 to do?

Which of those things does it not do properly?

The only gripe I have with it, is the parking brake lever which does not turn like in the real F/A-18.

Not a question of functionality (apart from the two levers - tail hook and wings  - that are too close togheter).

The problem, IMO, is the overall quality which is certanly not the same as the previous PTO and the CRP which are really twp excellent metal panels.

I would have bought  PTO2 if wasn't for quality (even if it duplicates some  functionalities of  CRP, which is not an ideal choice).

It seems too plastic to look at and use...

Not a problem really IMO. Normally your wings will be spread when you lower the hook. But even if they are folded and you lower the hook for ground checks, it clears.

Well...making it out of metal is more expensive by a margin. Never understood the the obsession that some people have with things having a "perceived" better quality when they are made out of metal instead of plastic...unless it is an actual concern about durability. But I don´t see how one would put that much stress on any of the components of the PTO2, that plastic could not handle it.

But of course, it´´s totally up to you mate...

(Also, I fly VR, so I don´t look at it that much)

It's a matter of tactile sensitivity, especially when moving levers. The movement of the lever is also less shakY and the noise is way much better.

Not just a question of solidity against potential damage.

For knobs and other components is not so ncessary.

No

Check the manuals on the Winwing site. They'll tell you what you need to know.

May I ask what is the model of the labeler/printer that you use to make these replacement labels? I had terrible results using my printer.

I have a Brother one that does similar.
