syrutuwro Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 (edited) Hey so I picked up the Hind on the dcs sale and now I need some tips on how to fly this beast I've been flying the huey and have managed take off and flying not so much sticking the landing yet but I just really want to get that hind in the air. I also have the AH-64 but there is something about its flying mechanics that I don't like. I don't have track IR or rudder pedals at the minute https://mobdro.bio/ . So uhm any help and advice are well appreciated. Edited September 30, 2023 by syrutuwro
admiki Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Flying or just taking off? For take off, make sure to release parking brake. Be carefull, it will try to roll on you when light on wheels. After take off use your trim release and use it a lot. For landing, take your time during approach. Depending on your weight, be prepared to use a lot of right pedal. For the time, leave yaw AP channel off.
Crash * Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 (edited) The Hind is a great and imposing helicopter from the cold war. You will have a lot of fun with it, but it also requires some training time. For the beginning the following tips: Do not overload, too heavy does not like the Mi-24 at all. Do not fly too tight turns Hovering is possible, but not always useful Keep an eye on the VSR Fly more like an airplane Heli flying is really much more comfortable with rudder pedals. Try to get used ones. Track IR is expensive, but highly recommended. Except with VR, there it is unnecessary. Hope it helps. Another good tip: Chuck Owls Mi-24 Guide. This guy is awesome. This will help a lot. AeriaGloria Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 (edited) Yeah, I bought a $25 PS3 webcam with no IR filter and use free open track with a $15 head tracker, works great, Can’t really say much about flying in general but if you have any specific questions let us know. You are going to want to running take off/land at 50-80 kmh, and cruise at 260 kmh (red dot on IAS gauge.) as miki said keep yaw AP off for now. It is fun, but be aware the faster you are the more controls change as wings/tail lift you. The tail turns you right at high speed so you need less pedal the faster you go, and wing produces enough pitch down lift that cyclic is roughly centered from 180-280 kmh Edited September 29, 2023 by AeriaGloria Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
