Ok, so I got everything working OK, played quite a bit last week. But then haven't played in a while.
Started up pimax, dcs etc. First I noticed my openxr recording window didn't see my pimax screen in DCS. So I recorded using Window capture. Then watching the capture, I see my foveated rendering/quad view isn't working. (Which explains the low fps in my test. So dedicated to try and go back and fourth between openxr and steam vr in open composite, incase that was the problem.
But when I do this I get this message

20231003_111736.jpg

So now I have no idea what's going on

As I hit switch to open composite, it says downloading .dll and then I get this crash

The issue has been well-known over the past several days and the basic reason is the server of the Opencomposite is down.  You can go to the discord channel of Opencomposite where there are tons of discussions and proper instructions to solve the problem.

Hmmm. I don’t think I understand this. Is open composite needed for recording DCS? probably stupid question. 🙂

I assume if you can't change to openxr with opencomposite. Then openxr signals won't be sent and openxr mirror in obs.

I can record, by simply using game window capture.

But it's simply a symptom, without going to open xr. I won't get foveated rendering/quadview working. So my performance will be crap.

So it´s only when recording you need open composite ?

I mean, with DCS having native OpenXR support I use openXR through PimaxXR and get terrific performance in DCS with Quadview, and Open composite is never needed. 🙂

All I know is Quadview doesn't work anymore, and it happened at the same time as opencomposite stopped working.

Quad view never worked with OpenComposite and never will. So idk what you can possibly be talking about.

"These aren't the Droids you're looking for"

Please seriously ditch OpenComposite already.

DCS has native support for OpenXR now and there is no good reason you may need OpenComposite.

Quad views only works without OpenComposite

OBSMirror works fine without it too.

Using OpenComposite when your game has native OpenXR support brings nothing and is asking to have problems.

Everything worked fine last week.

Now neither quadwiew or openxr window in obs works, exactly the same time as opencomposite stopped working.

I haven't done any updates to anything as the PC has been off. Only change is that opencomposite stopped working.

I've tried to make a new openxr window in Obs.

But there doesn't appear to be any openxr "singal" coming from the headset. As the Obs window is black.

And Quadview/foveated rendering also stopped working. Last week if i recorded video in OBS using game capture-dcs window it would be all pixilated. Now the entire video is full resolution.

If I take off my headset and point it at the dcs menu it all full resolution. Last week it was pixilated.

Only thing that has changed is the opencomposite switcher stopped working.

I'm not saying you're not having a problem, but trust me OpenComposite isn't your problem. Please delete OpenComposite already, as clearly it is not helping and only confusing you.

You saying that Quad Views worked last week is irrefutable evidence that you were NOT using OpenComposite. So remove it from the equation.

Make sure you start DCS in multi-threaded (MT) mode. This mode only supports OpenXR and therefore cannot and will not use OpenComposite. This mode is a requirement for Quad Views to work.

Download OpenXR Explorer and capture its full output and post it here.

Ok. I just don´t understand what you are using open composite for. DCS has been supporting openXR natively for 10 months now. So with Crystal you only need PimaxXR to use DCS.

Because other games don't, and I need to change between openxr and steam vr.

You can disable it when needed.
