Rhrich Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Might be my lack of internet-skill, and in that case I apologise and ask for links, but I can’t find a good tutorial on front seat use? From what I can make out from old post the ADF in the front radio was not functional when the Turkey was released. Has this changed? The tutorials I find all recommend going to the back seat to set it up, but is there a good way to do it all from the front? Using that Jester wheel or some other magic? I'm quite new to DCS and only gradually getting to the point where I’m good enough to fly procedures and ADF would sure come in handy.
Rhrich Posted October 10, 2023 Author Posted October 10, 2023 I’ve got the same question regarding squawking, can I fiddle with the transponder without going in the back?
Wingmate Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 According to the NATOPS the ADF position is not functional on the ARC-159 (the radio in the front) so I imagine it won't be enabled in our tomcat. As for using it I have always just switched to the back seat or told my friend to flip the switch, I am unsure as to if you can do it with Jester. I think I recall the ability to tell Jster to do so with VAICOM but I have not flown any missions with that in a while. I think all the transponder functions are in the back cockpit and I have never really fiddled with it so I can't help much there.

You seem knowledgeable about this, do you happen to know if DCS emulates atmospheric conditions? Guess it’s almost impossible because it depends on so many factors, but ADF could play some tricks on you.

I don't know about any such implementations in DCS. You can find some cool stuff though, like radar LOS has calculations for round Earth even when the maps are flat or ATC comms signal degradation over distance and LOS. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
