Here are some early WIP images from a project I'm doing to expand on 1950s Korean war era aircraft we currently have.  This will try to accurately replicate the F9F-2 early era Panther from the start of the Korean war. The aircraft will be capable of taking off and landing on capable carriers in the game.

I'm hoping for a full fidelity module using the EFM with interactive cockpit physics and damage model.  And able to use the common air to ground weapons found on the F9F-2 20mm cannons and up to two 1.000 pound bombs and unguided rockets for ground attack missions.

See rest of this topic for regular updates!

My Dad was skipper of VF-52. Do you suppose you'd be able to manage a skin for them as well? Not too complicated for both VF-51, -52. Just put a big "S" on the tail and Wings and their 3 digit side numbers begin with a "1" and "2" respectively. Thanks. Beautiful model by the way.

Dang, Razor you're mellowing with age.... LOL

I think I was #119 Razor, I remember seeing a screen shot of it somewhere.

I'm delusional to think the new IL2, is IL10. Start in Manchuria and work your way into North Korea. We get the Yellow Sea, Essex Carriers, Panthers, Skyraiders, Corsairs, fair winds and following seas. Damn, I can smell mid-rats .........

I'll need to finish the skin but should be able! Think this is the livery?

It's beautiful =Katze=! I don't believe that they put that a/c number on the tip tank though. In all of the Panther photos in my Dad's cruise book, the tip tanks did not have any numbers on them. Having said that, the thing to remember is, squadron CO's and CAG's had a great deal of local control over a/c markings and even BuAir was constantly coming out with new directives as to how an a/c was to be painted, so don't get too wrapped up in the "small stores". I have no doubt that someone could show you a picture of a Panther in Air Group 5, VF-52 markings with a/c numbers on the tip tank just as I could site pictures of same without them. It's silly to get wrapped up in that type of minutia. The bottom line is that she's a beautiful model and I can't wait to fly her!!

Hello Cat! I'd like to ask you something. Are you the actual author of the model shown here or do you just want to present a mod from a model that you purchased or freely acquired and then edited by yourself?

I'm the author its not been purchased lol

That's cool.  Is that for the VSN F9F?  Sorry, saw the pit and didn't read back.  Peejot could use that pit.  🙂
