CTD at game load 2.9 MT every time consistantly

So I just cannot get 2.9 MT to load. Everything working just fine the day before the update, no changes that I can think of. No mods, i9, 32gb, 4090, varjo aero, steam install.

I have tried, in no particular order: verifying game integrity, updating gpu drivers, updating windows, updating simshaker, uninstall and reinstall DCS, and of course, restarting my system. Tried launching with and without the various amends (--force_steamvr_enable etc)

I can load into ST just fine (evidenced by the version number in the bottom corner) and weirdly, if I launch via the bin-mt folder it launches into ST version.

I'm about out of ideas, other than just waiting for 2.9.1 and hoping it magically works again.

Try this:

  1. Go to "Saved Games/DCS../Config".
  2. Rename your "options.lua" file to "options.lua.bak".

Does DCS starts if your run in 2D mode?

ok got it! commenting here for future reference: ended up needing to go into regedit and navigating to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1\ApiLayers\Implicit in there I deleted the openxr referenced items and it now loads.

DCS sure makes me feel like a fuckin' computer hacker from time to time.

Ensure you are running OpenXR for Windows Mixed Reality.

Have you ever installed the Open Kneeboard mod on your PC? If so, try this.

Thanks for your feedback. 👍

Hi Flappie,

this isn't the entry that needs deleting- right?

Yes, it is!

Give it a try :

  1. First, save this key, just in case you would need it later: right-click the "Implicit" folder, then choose "Export" and save anywhere you want.
  2. Now you can delete the "....json" key.

Interesting that you got me working again (by renaming my kneeboard folder) rather than deleting this key.  I will do so tonight though, no need to tempt fate.

Have a good one.
