Mission 3 questions (attention: spoilers!)

Finished mission 3, but I think I might have run into a problem regarding a set of coordinates:

Spoiler

The coordinates for the second SA-6 site are either off, or I had a major brain fart and failed to spot an input mistake on my side, even though I checked thrice. I did find the site eventually with the HAD and visually checking for missile smoke from the launch site. If you have the time, maybe worth checking out whether the coordinates from Popeye are correct?

One other thing that I'm not sure about:

Spoiler

I was tasked to take out the SA-8 while I was too close to it, so I had to extend out a bit (wanted to drop a JDAM on it). Right when I was about to pickle, I got the message from "Mr. Impatient" Popeye to abort as he was going to take care of that SA-8. I pickled anyway. I didn't feel I was taking too much time, just extended for a couple of miles and turned back in, no more than 2 or 3 minutes. Is this hard-coded into the campaign, or should I have simply dropped faster?

What a great campaign so far, lots of fun! As usual, I'm blown away by the sheer amount of work you invested into the documentation. Very immersive campaign, and I'm looking forward to mission 4.

Oh, BTW, can we do an overhead break on landing (after receiving clearance from tower, or will that cost us points?

I do suffer from performance issues on the ground on H4 (intermittent stuttering), and the tanker is jittering (known issue acknowledged by ED) but that could all be a 2.9 thing, so I'll wait for the upcoming hotfix from ED.

Thanks very much, glad you're enjoying!

Spoiler

Don't believe there's an issue with the coords, I've flown this mission a ton of times so nothing should have changed.  Possibly an error with elevation?  Can throw things out.  But I do have to retest soon to see how the TDOA features affect the AI reliability so I'll have another look as I do to make sure.

Spoiler

It is programmed in that he'll take the target with 5 mins to the strike TOT if it's not dead yet.

Overhead break is fine, but you need to avoid overflying Ruwaished at less than 7500 (IIRC) feet as per noise abatement procedure.  Violating that will cost score.

I'm also having issue with the coordinate provided both for the SA8 and the SA6.

I entered them but there is nothing to see.

I'm a bit frustrated because I can't see s**t since the begining of this campaign, a recurent issue on my side with the ground target in DCS.

It is not specific to this campaign but the true is finding a vehicule more or less hiden between building or behind tree is impossible for me in this game so I'm always bingo fuel before I can find a target.

So if the coordinate could be at the exact location and not more or less in the area it would be great (even if maybe a little less realistic)

Are you setting the altitude as well as the coordinates when you enter the waypoint?  The coordinates you get given for both those targets should be spot on IIRC.

Yes altitude as well. There is nothing to see as far as I can tell.

Is there a conditions for the SAM to appears ? I orbit just below the cloud coverage, I am not buzing at low altitude contrary to mission 2.

No, if you've received the coordinates the units are already active, carried out a quick test to double check the cords, all was good:

Both targets exactly where they should be.  The updated SOI/SPI logic has caused some people issues, maybe this is the reason.  You may need to un-designate previous targets and then hit CZ again on the MFD as your pod starts looking in the wrong direction otherwise.

I believe that was the culprit in my case.

I should have mess up with the targeting pod as I refly it and sure it was at the right spot.

I have been shot by the SA6 but that's another story.😅

ha ha fair enough.  Worth checking the coords on the actual TGP screen if not sure in future, in the pics above you can see the coords on the screen match what's on my DED screen so that's a good way to cross check.

That's COLONEL Impatient, thank you very much. 😉

Same issue.

Setting a markpoint for the set of coordinates given by Popeye for the second SA-6 had my TGP pointed miles away.

Verified inputs twice?

EDIT:

Second time through the mission and the coordinates were bang on both times. Unsure what happened?

Probably still had a SPI set somewhere else, every time this happens to me I find TMS down a few times on the TGP and then hitting CZ does the trick.

Played trough with no problems, with latest OB. It was weird as I played it before restarting my DCS after some hornet missions, while I hadnt any feedback first in my HAD (not in ANY moment of mission) - but then restrated my DCS and computer and everything worked well. Maby it is just some OB stuff dunno, but in those first couple of tries i got triggers but didnt see anything in had / given coords. Dunno if this has any help for you guys, but I more or less had the same problem, that seemed to just fly away for any reason or another. And no I do not mean "have you tried restarting the DCS".. 😄 No. But yeah played msn 3 without probs in the end. Though crashed my f16 in landing, which annoyes me so much I played it AGAIN. Damned 😄
