Hello everyone

FWIW, I wanted to give a shout out to the DCS BS documentation and to the team who wrote it. Bravo! This is one of the best manuals I have read, especially to cover such a deep and complex mechanism as the Ka-50. The detail, coverage, and ease of learning provided by the manual is just top-notch. Again, best I've ever seen.

And to my fellow pilots, RTFM! I am guilty myself of running to the forums for a quick answer. But even if you do you should STILL go back to the manual and find the answer yourself. Use the forum knowledge as a starting point.

Bottom line: read the manual. Maybe once, twice if you have to.. it's a fun read, an entertaining read, and an easy read. But it is a lot so it's worth going over a couple times. It is well written enough to be approached as if you were handed the manual on your first day of flight school. But by the time you finish reading these docs you will know the Ka-50 better than you do your own wife (or g/f, goat, whatever...)

And I contrast this to the old Falcon manuals, which I have read several times per each version since Falcon 3 way back when. Reading those felt like preparing for a PhD dissertation defense. It was thorough... but I bet when you ask me 10 years from now how to manage target points in the PVI vs how to manage the radar slewing in Falcon, the Ka-50 instructions will be ready to go, while I'll prob ask "What's a Falcon???"

Lets see with the imminent release of the UK version (with the UK cockpit) will the manual be updated to allow people to follow along.

Best learning is hit or miss, although videos were very helpful.

UK cockpit? Do you mean English language cockpit? If so, the download version has had this from the beginning, and the manual still referenced the Russian cockpit.

Mostly TL;DR for me for the manual :) The best learning I've done is watching videos and tracks coupled with lots of error/trial.

The Director's Notes from Matt have been great, don't get me wrong. But, purposefully, they lack depth. And as a constructive criticism, they do spend a little too much time on advertising the game. Just a little. But they are overall excellent introductions to the basic systems.

A second set of Advanced Notes would be great. Showing multiple systems working together in flow. Showing a mission beginning to end, etc. We also could use a Mission Editor Note, an LUA editor note (to walkthrough ALL the customizations possible, from graphics tweaks to radio settings...maybe we'll learn some things we didn't know where in those LUA files!)...

I only wish I had the time to do one myself. Making the video would be educational in itself.
