Good morning everyone. I launch the game and it gets to the loading screen and loads upto 45% and no matter how long I leave it there it won't load further. Last night I had tried the 2.8 version with no luck. Then this morning I tried the open beta with no luck. Then I tried once again after the update that happened this morning with no luck.  I have updated my drivers, tried numerous restarts, I completely uninstalled the game between trying the different versions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to rename your Saved Games folder. If it starts then, there is some error/corruption inside it. You can find out what, by copying the folders back one by one.

I am having this issue, except, it does not get to the load screen, it shows the updating screen then nothing.

Try to run DCS.exe directly. Does it work? If it does not, attach dcs.log file (from Saved Games/DCS.../Logs).

I'm also having repeates crashes when playhing from Steam. Either when starting up (don't get the steam verification) or loading a mission.

I dont get a report notification, my whole pc Crashes, Can't use control/alt/delete I have to manually shut the whole pc down, super frustrating...

I'm going to reinstall DCS on Steam for now..

Specs: Windows 11, i913900K 5.8 Ghz, RTX4090 24 GB. I play the official version on Steam, so no beta as of yet.

Found this as I'm having a similar issue.

My problem/resolution was the TrackIR app had crashed and was no longer responsive. This seems to block DCS from starting. My solution was to kill the TracIR app and DCS went from the loading screen immediately into the menu. I can then restart TrackIR and all is well.

Hi

After the last update I have not been able to start my DCS.

The launcher starts fine but when I get to the main loading screen(the one with the clouds) it stops completely.

I have run repairs, I have made a re-install, I have set affinity ...no joy.

Can anyone help?

Your log file shows an error in the logbook for the Mission Editor. Try renaming your C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor folder to MissionEditor.old (this will get recreated when you next start the game).

If you haven't already then I'd also recommend deleting your fxo and metashaders2 folders in the Saved Games\DCS folder as well.

If that still fails then:

  • Next, delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\TEMP\DCS and try again.
  • Next, try renaming Saved Games\DCS to DCS.old and try again. (it's important to rename so that you can copy back config afterwards to get your bindings if this works)

In addition to this you have heaps of mods so failing that try removing the mods and run a slow repair of the game. You can add the mods back again if that fixes it (may need to do one by one to figure out which one caused the issue if that was the case. Mods can often break between upgrades)

You have an existing page file set to 16384. I'd recommend increasing that to 32768.

Some additional tuning items reported by the DCS log analyzer for your log file:

  • Disable civil traffic.
  • Set Preload Radius to max. 60000. You currently have a preload radius of 109700 which is really high, especially given your RAM and VRAM, so you are loading a bunch of unnecessary stuff.
  • Decrease Terrain Textures.
  • Turn off Depth of Field.
  • Set Water to Low.
  • Turn down Anisotropic Filtering.

Drop another log file here if this continues to happen after you've tried the above.
