pjjones81 Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 (edited) There is a line in hud where things disappear... Sometimes its just enough to be annoying, sometimes its big enough to hide the entire velocity vector. What causes this? Is it a head alignment issue? is there some adjustment to make to minimize it? Its also in this video at about 4:35 so you can see it in action… just in case I’m not really explaining it on a still shot… https://youtu.be/YsqZ_wFVDNY?si=k3jtqMOHMbfuCZe0 I have increased and decreased to graphics as much as I know how.... Its something that happens every time i fly, and i can get around it by sitting up in my chair or slouching a little to get the vector back in view, but he black line is still there... Base beta... Haven't even started the rabbit hole of mods yet, so its not one of those, and it comes up whether or not my Tobii is plugged in or not Edited December 11, 2023 by pjjones81
Solution rob10 Posted December 11, 2023 Solution Posted December 11, 2023 Yup. That's as IRL, so correct as is. If you look closely it's where the 2 pieces of the HUD overlap (and are at different angles), so depending the angle you are looking at it from it looks like a blank zone.
Razor18 Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 (edited) To find the proper vertical seat position, look at the mechanical crosshair on the top right of the HUD, and lower your seat, until the pipper on the far part of the HUD are aligned horizontally, in other words until the crosshair is on the same height as the pipper. On all the above pictures you are sitting too high. Edited December 15, 2023 by Razor18
Maverick806 Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 This is definitely not correct as is. The issue still happens even when you're sitting at the correct height, and it doesn't happen in the real jet: Looking at: \Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\Multipurpose_Display_Group\HUD_AVQ32\indicator\Pages\HUD_Base.lua DCS treats the upper half of the large glass like it doesn't exist at all. 9800X3D, 64GB DDR5, RTX 3080 Valve Index, RS FSSB R3 Ultra, TM Viper TQS, TM TPR Pedals

The OP is sitting too high and looking down at the glass edge, which causes the HUD line. This video is taken from a lower angle, so it's not looking through the upper edge of the nearer glass. Absolutely correct as-is. You can test this yourself by lowering your view angle. If you have not produced an official manual, it's costing you sales. I have to disagree Even sitting at the correct height with the backup sight is vertically aligned, symbology can still get cut off. The video I posted earlier might start lower than OP's screenshot, but moves significantly higher than any screenshot in this thread and doesn't show any symbology disappearing at the bottom of the outer glass. Also the darkness of the hangar makes it easy see the circles where symbology is being shown. Here's another example with a camera well above where the pilots head should be, and the steering line doesn't have a gap in it 9800X3D, 64GB DDR5, RTX 3080 Valve Index, RS FSSB R3 Ultra, TM Viper TQS, TM TPR Pedals

I never see a symbology break on mine in my normal position. If you have not produced an official manual, it's costing you sales.
