Hi

first sorry for my broken English.

In this thread I reported my bug with extreme FPS drops:

@BIGNEWY helped me with this workaround:

  • Set Up Pagefile for DCS

Set Up pagefile for DCS it really helped, but unfortunately only partially. Currently I have FPS drops, but not so particularly pronounced and not so often.

This is my FPS, before applying the workaround:

obr1.png

A really big and unstable sine wave. FPS drops from 180 frames to 9 frames lasting tens of seconds.

Now is status better, but it is still limiting to play. After applying workaround is sine wave a little more beautiful (more stable) :

FPS drops are now, less frequented and smaller.

And it is my optimal status:

OK, now I am attaching the essential information of the previous Issues.

Just to be sure, I repeated the test and am sending all the findings:

HW:
CPU: intel i-9 12900K (without OC)
RAM: 32GB RAM (without OC)
GPU: RTX 3080 (without OC with latest update 546.33 from 12/12/2023)
HDD: 2x .m2
Monitor: 32" ASUS

TrackIR: v5
Joysticks: Saitek X56 + peddals

SW:
OS: Windows 11 Pro 64bit 22H2
Other system sofware: WiseCare 365 PRO, ARMOURY CRATE

Prerequisites:

DCS version: NON-STEAM
My DCS account: RussianKnights
DCS Beta (2.9.1.48335), was installed from previous versions.
Installed Mods for DCS: None
Installed language: Czech (Čeština)
Modules aircraft: DCS A-10C, DCS F-86F, L-39, M-2000C, Mi-24P, Mi-8MTV2, MiG-15Bis, Mig-19P, MiG-21Bis, Mirage F-1, P-47, P-51, Yak-52
Modules maps: Nevada (free, due to the purchased DCS A-10C), Caucasus, Channel (upgraded to 2.0),  Marianas, Normandy, Persian Gulf, Sinai,
Modules others: Combined Arms, China Asset Pack, FC3, WW2 asset pack

My current setting:

setting.png

Occurrence of bug:

  • from upgrade on 2.9 version (Until the arrival of the long-awaited version 2.9 with DLSS support, this bug did not occur.)
  • occurs regardless of setting (low, medium, ultra - it does not matter)
  • yesterday I tested this bug on other maps and DCS modules...default map Persian Gulf and F-86 and Mirage F1 and bug is occurs too, so it is not map or DCS module dependent
  • the bug occurs in singleplayer, I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but I assume it will be the same, I will try it on request

Description of bug (update after applying workaround):

  • occurrence of unexpected FPS drops, e.g. from 150 (without enabled Vsync) to 30 FPS...also tested with VSync enabled with the same result.
  • the FPS drops occurs mainly when switching views (F2, F3) but also in the standard F1 view after a certain time....
  • during the one-hour flight, I am in the FPS drops for about 10 minutes

Proposed temporarily workarounds by ED @Flappie:

  • Set "High performance" in Windows Power Options -> not working
  • Workaround described on this page https://www.dannymoran.com/windows-cpu-core-parking/ -> not accepted this workaround from my side, I am afraid to changes in registers where I do not know the impact of the changes

Proposed temporarily workarounds by ED @BIGNEWY:

  • Set Up Pagefile for DCS -> minor improvement

I'm at my wits end, I haven't flown in almost two months, because of this bug and I'm starting to experience withdrawal symptoms... 😕 😕 😕

Help meee, please...

@BIGNEWY I applying this workaround (it works for me) :

But as someone already said in some thread, games should not be repaired by intervention in the windows system, but by intervention to the games themselves.

Good to hear it helps.

Yes and that is why we are gathering data on different systems and looking for ways to tweak multithreading in DCS.

Thank you

I get it! Since I have been working as an IT tester/Release Manager and QA manager for 18 years, I know what it entails 🙂 At the same time, I understand the frustration of some users.

No one understands their frustration better than me, I get pinged a lot 🙂
Have a great weekend!

Molnija1985 what programs do you have running in the backround while running DCS. I think something amiss with your PC either programs running or spyware or something..

Intel Ultra 265K 5.5GHZ   /  Gigabyte Z890 Aorus Elite  /  MSI 4070Ti Ventus 12GB   /  SoundBlaster Z SoundCard  /  Corsair Vengance 64GB Ram  /  HP Reverb G2  /  Samsung 980 Pro 2TB Games   /  Crucial 512GB M.2 Win 11 Pro 21H2 /  ButtKicker Gamer  /  CoolerMaster TD500 Mesh V2 PC Case

@The_Nephilim Thank you for your interest. But I don't think so, my computer is built and configured basically only for DCS. And as I mentioned before, everything was fine until version 2.9. Editing the key in the registry for parking the processor cores solved my problem. So the problem is in the optimization of the DCS itself...in 2.9 version.

I also noticed that several players have the same problem. I guess ED will make a fix soon and I will return the registry to its original state - I really don't like editing registries.

Sorry for my Googletranslate English...

Well either way I had a look at your post you have some settings on pretty high but you say it is fine now which is good glad it was not any spyware or whatnot..

@The_Nephilim Thank you,

but this HW configuration:

CPU: intel i-9 12900K (without OC)
RAM: 32GB RAM (without OC)
GPU: RTX 3080 (without OC with latest update 546.33 from 12/12/2023)
HDD: 2x .m2
Monitor: 32" ASUS

TrackIR: v5
Joysticks: Saitek X56 + peddals

should handle very high settings just fine 😉 Currently, after set parking CPU cores in registry everything works as it should. I hope that ED will fix this problem soon and I will be able to revert to the original registry configuration.
