Question about LANTIRN keywords

Hey guys, just getting back into DCS after a few year absence, and updating all the VA and VAICOM stuff. 

 

Looks like my VA version is v1.10.6 64 bit, and my VAICOM version is 2.9.05 (according to the VAICOM pro UI). It currently shows 1081 keywords on the editor page. What seems to be missing are all the commands for having Jester operate the LANTIRN. According to the documentation these were new in version 2.5.11, but I know there has been some big changes since then with VAICOM switching over from Hollywood to the community. 

 

Can anyone tell me if the LANTIRN commands are currently missing from the latest version of AIRIO, or is there something I've missed in my update processes? If so, can anyone direct me to the place I need to obtain the proper files / updates?

Look in the manual to find the ones that were implemented by Hollywood with the LANTERN release from HB. I don't think all were. Then compare with the keywords editor to see if any are missing. If there are, make a backup of your keywords and reset the database.

Actually, I deleted VA and VAICOM and did a fresh install, which should have had the same effect as resetting the DB, right? I've seen the keywords in the manual and they are definitely missing from my dataset. Which, after a fresh install, led me to believe that maybe they've been removed for now.

Yeah, that's true. Reinstallation of VA won't ever do any good unless there's something wrong with VA itself. Reinstallation of VAICOM is just to delete everything in the VAICOM folder and replace the dll, as everything is self contained in that folder. I've never heard of commands beeing removed though. Have never tried the LANTIRN commands as I use the F-14 solely for AA. You can ask in the F-14 channel on the Discord perhaps. But I can have a look, which commands are missing?

Actually, after playing around for a bit, I found the issue, for anyone else that runs into this problem in the future. 

 

On the reinstall, the software also reinstalled the extensions folder in the VAICOM folder, which contain outdated AIRIO and Chatter dll files. If you delete the extensions folder and then go through the keyword update process in the VAICOM configuration menu, it will update the keyword list and the LANTIRN commands are there. After the update the keyword count was about 1100 and change. 

 

Man, I gotta say, that LANTIRN works WAAAY better using voice commands rather than d----g around with the Jester radial menu!!

Oh! That's a nice find, but strange. It does create the extention folder for me but not the DLLs.

Did you use the version of VAICOM Pro that is on the github server?  Because if you just happened to have the older release say in a zip file or a backup drive and re-installed that, I think I can see it installing the pre-community version--maybe even the Hollywood version before the LANTIRN updates.
