Launching mission in ME hangs at Sim Post Start

I saw a similar problem with some mod conflicts so I started trying to troubleshoot but I am not really sure what I am looking for in the log and am asking for help. Simply put, launching a mission from the ME to check things out hangs on Sim Post Start. Started Christmas Day and had been fine till then. So no changes to the system, DCS, or mods in that time. I'm considering ripping it all out and doing a fresh install but that's a huge undertaking to get things up and running again.

Olympus seems to be the big one that has "missing file" errors.

remove all custom mods and run a repair

Delete all unofficial mods and do a !repair of DCS.

I did everything I could think of removing the mods. Did a clean and a slow repair. I'm going to uninstall I guess and start with a clean install. Nothing had changed since the last DCS update as far as anything that prompted me to update and I had been fine until yesterday. So much lost. I attached the latest file in the event that helps maybe in the future though.

Uninstall/Reinstall won't do anything a repair won't do. But a repair won't touch your Saved Games settings and remove the mods that are there. It's literally in the DCS.log file which mods that are installed in Saved Games.

Edit: I use Open Mod Manager, the successor to OvGME, to install ALL my mods. Even in Saved Games. Gives me full control.

As MAXsenna said, don't bother with a re-install, just do a slow repair.  I don't claim to be good at reading logs, but it appears you have missing/corrupted files and repair should fix that.  And I would try renaming your saved games and letting it rebuild in case there is something in there that's gotten corrupted.

Might wanna exclude DCS directories from your anti-virus solution before you do a repair.

This is one error I don't have.

So I attempted to remove all mods, and wound up doing a clean install... Still doing it on the mission I've been working on. It works fine on the server but when loading it from ME it hangs in the same place. dcs.log This log should be clean.

Well... Shoot. Wish I had known that. I was scrambling trying to get up and running and... Well... I've lost literally years of work I am pretty certain and it definitely did not fix the problem. Whew. Frustrated here gang, thanks for the help. Any new suggestions from the new log gratefully accepted. 

 

Update: ran two missions I had previously made from a buddy that had them. Both have zero issues. One is on Syria one on Caucus. The one I'm having problems with is PG. Can it be something with that mission? If so it is to much work to toss. 

 

Update 2: I renamed the file and it is running just fine. I did this Monday and it worked for several hours worth of work and then the next day reverted to the same issue. Of note, it is the same naming convention I've worked on this mission for nearly 18 months now. If that helps any big brain folks I thought I would include it.

Without any changes, I checked it again and the same file now hangs every time at the same place.

I know there was a place it gives instructions on how to do this, but I can not seem to find it. Any chance you can tell me what it needs to point to? I found where to do exclusions but not sure if it is the exe or what. Thank you.

I'll look at the log later. For the exclusions, just add the complete Eagle Dynamics directory.

Thank you! I really do appreciate everyone helping out. This is driving me nuts. I had hoped to have this finally ready in January and now it looks like a complete start over which is just... Taking the air out of me.

I did the anti virus thing. Didn’t seem to have any effect. Good thought though. Not sure why it’s worked fine for months and now suddenly is giving me fits.

Today I ran a cleanup and a full repair again. I asked to mates to run the mission and then save it if it ran. Both had no issues running it, I attempted to run that after the cleanup, repair, and rebooting router just in case. In ME it still stops at Sim Post Start. Log attached. I believe there are no mods at all. dcs.log If something is still in there let me know.

Well... I've ran it five times without fail. I started deleting types of units around the map and trying to run it. Turns out some or all of the carrier deck statics do not play well and appear to be causing the lock up. Can that be confirmed somehow?
