Cop9885 Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Hi everyone, I wonder if some knowledgeable soul could help out a retired computer illiterate idiiot. I've recently purchased the Pimax Hand Tracker and fitted it to the bottom of my Crystal HMD. Downloaded the software as directed within the Pimax Client and the tracker has appeared on the picture of the Crystal. On opening the Ultra Leap software, I can see that the trackers cameras are working fine and having changed the input device from controllers to hand tracking, within the Pimax Home UI. I can see my hands, which are tracking well and able to manipulate menus etc. But when it comes to using it anywhere else its a big fat fail. in fact, when launching DCS it isn't booting up the VR headset at all. Clicking on the the enable button for Ultra Leap in DCS, just results in a message telling me that the device isn't attached. Has anybody got any ideas on what I could be doing wrong? Thanks
hsth Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Since Tally Mouse got it all working (see you could contact him for help?
Waxi Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 (edited) A fix for the issue with DCS not starting when Ultraleap hand tracking is enabled is provided here: The thread also touches on how to configure and use the Pimax Crystal accessory hand tracking module with DCS. It seems that there are two options: Use the Ultraleap hand tracking built into DCS. Use the Ultraleap hand tracking of the Pimax software which emulates VR hand controllers in DCS and reportedly provides more configuration options than #1. I do not own the hand tracking module (yet) and just summarized what has been discussed in the thread linked above. Edited February 21, 2024 by Waxi
jaapgrolleman Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 I'll also be trying to set this up soon, heard many people find it difficult to get it working flawlessly.
Celestiale Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 what is the general consensus about getting this to work with the Crystal? Are most people managing to get this working flawlessly? Asking since I am thinking about buying the Crystal and this is one of the features that are important to me
ackattacker Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 (edited) I have Ultraleap controller 2 mounted on the crystal using a 3d printed mount, and it works "reliably" but not "flawlessly". Not really Pimax's fault. It all comes down to DCS implementation of hand-tracking. What I mean by "reliably" is that I can pretty reliably see my hands in DCS. What I mean by "not flawlessly" is that actually manipulating switches and knobs can be a frustrating experience. There are a number of configuration options, none of which provide a truly great experience. I play around with it sometimes, and usually go back to just using the HMD cursor and buttons assigned to my HOTAS. Yuma Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 I'm having the jiteery issue with a message saying that the module is connected to a low power sorce, even when connected to the place Pimax designed it for. For me the Pimax hand module is not usable at all

I'm pretty sure it was the Leap's cable causing the problem.
Yuma Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 So after dusting off my Leap motion 2, I can confirm that when connected to a USB3 hub there are no issues whatsoever, however somehow the Pimax Crystal USB is not providing enough power to the Pimax hand tracking module. Another Pimax issue. 1
SewMac Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Have the Pimax HTM for a couple of months, frustrating getting the USB drivers to work correctly. Many hours of testing and I can get the HTM to be recognised by WIN11 and work correctly, in game [DCS] tactile response is lacking. Have ordered a SlugMouse kit to see if that will provide good in-game control - looks like it should eliminate need for gloves [with low tactile control] in the cockpit. Getting the kit in a week or so, will provide feedback. 1
DerKlausi Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 How did you guys mount the Ultraleap 2 to the Crystal? Are you using it together with the Lighthouse faceplate? Cheers, DK

Yuma Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Yeah velcroed to the front plate, because the hand module does not work for me
Yuma Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 So today after trying different things and more research I came to the solution of the hand module low power issue. I had to connect the Pimax headset in the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A port (Red) and after that no more problems with the hand tracking module. 1
Yuma Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 After today’s update I’m having issues with hand tracking. Hands not showing, sometimes they do and then disappear.
