Aircraft rolling left with atflir/tpod

Hi everyone,

I've noticed that the f18 rolls to the left when you have ATFLIR/TPOD on left cheek with or without loadout is the same

Isn't the FCS supposed to "correct" this tendency?

I've tried with 2 different stick, checked calibration/curves/deadzone but still i have a slight roll left that i have to correct with trim (much more with tpod than atflir)

I've attached both the track and the mission i've used to test this tendency

thank you

As far as I know the FCS does not automatically trim for the roll axis, so anything asymmetrical, like the TPOD on the cheeck station, will induce a rolling that the pilot has to compensate for.

As it turns out, even the slight asymmetries of the airframe itself having resulted from whatever history in crime the individual frame might have, can require enough of trimming to be mentioned in the log. 🙂 The CAS in the F-18 is actually a relatively open-loop design in comparison to something like an Airbus, as more desirable handling characteristics in maneuvering flight could be achieved that way (particularly with control systems available at the time).
