Was away from DCS for several weeks, decided to see if my Oculus 2 headset would work now in latest version (did they fix the Oculus VR bug?).

I opened DCS, re-configured my graphic settings to be more VR friendly, then clicked the VR button, rebooted DCS and...disaster. DCS tries to load - I get as far as the new Nvidia DCS World splash screen...then nothing. It disappears. I know I can't be alone with this experience.

Anyway, can anyone suggest how I can 'unclick' the VR button WITHOUT actually opening DCS since that is now impossible. Or are there other solutions I'm not thinking of? As you might infer from my description, I'm not especially tech savvy but I would love to get back into the sky.

thanks in advance

[CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH. Editing the lua in Saved Games did the trick. I'm back. Props to a great community.]

You should be able to edit a config file without going in game, but unfortunately I can't point you exactly where/what one.  I'm sure someone will be along shortly that can point you which one to tweak, but it is a fixable problem.

Try this: Right click on the DCS desktop icon, go to Properties and in the Target box add the text: --force_disable_VR after the .exe.

For example: ...\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_disable_VR

Or maybe in your "\Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua", change "enabled" under VR to "false".  e.g.

options = {
	["VR"] = {
		["bloom"] = false,
		["box_mouse_cursor"] = true,
		["custom_IPD"] = "63.5",
		["custom_IPD_enable"] = false,
		["enable"] = false,

Do yourself a favour and get Skatezilla's excellent GUI Updater/Launcher and do don't need to edit anything, it does all that for you.
Cheers!
