I got my DCS Black Shark yesterday was really happy since I have waited for 4 weeks to get it.

But the game keeps crashing (not responding anymore) when i load any mission.

Please some help here.

Further information:

Hardware:

AMD Athlon 64bit dual core 4600+

Asus M2N-X motherboard

2GB RAM memory

Graphics Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX+

OS: Windows XP 32 bit SP3

The error I get in the temp folder of the game is:

Error running Config/autoexec.cfg: cannot open Config/autoexec.cfg: No such file or directory

Can someone help me please.

First off, that would seem to be an error in loading the DCS.EXE file, which is the actual simulation. Multiplayer loads directly to DCS.EXE, could you attempt starting in multiplayer mode and see if the problem also exists there?

Are you running an anti-virus of some sort where you have to add executables to trusted lists? And if so, did you add both launcher.exe and dcs.exe? Also, is it installed in the Program Files folder and if so, do you have any specific privilige requirements on those folders?

Anyways, that looks like it most likely is a software problem, so it would help to know what Antiviruses and such you have and what priviliges they demand for programs to execute, if you have any specific codec packs, driver version for that GeForce and so on.

As much detail as possible would help in hopefully eliminating the problem.

Multiplayer won't start either.

As for my AV scanner I am using the free version of AVG and I don't know if it needs privileges.

As far as I can tell all the folders here don't have any restrictions since I am the only user on this computer and there for it always runs in admin mode.

I have a similar problem, when I first got the game, it was fine. I could load missions and stuff but one day, it just kept crashing saying 'DCS etc has stopped responding' and going back to the game menu.

The actual game .exe has broken somewhere as when I try to load a mission, wether it's training, multiplayer or a single mission, it loads all the way in to about 75% including dropping out to windows and loading back in but then it freezes or crashes. Once that happens the menu loads back up again as if nothing happened.

This only happened a few weeks after playing the game, not long after I defragged my hardrive so I assumed that caused some kind of corruption. Today I reinstalled the game hoping to play but only to find that I still have this problem.

I'm running Vista 32bit

Geforce 8800Gt with latest drivers

4Gb RAM

500Gb Hardrive

Any help would be appreciated, it can't be my antivirus or anything, I didn't have any problems with it before and it doesn't affect any other games (Symantec antivirus).

Just looked in the crash file, opened it with notepad and I see this:

My buddy had the same problem yesterday, he had to reinstall the game and it worked fine for him. He also disabled his antivirus during game play. Hopefully that will fix your problem.

Well I reinstalled but it didn't work for me. Antivirus can't be the problem as it had no troubles the first time around...

Dude that sucks, hopefully you will find a solution for the problem soon. Please let us know if you figure it out.

Is anyone using the latest nVidia drivers (182.05) and an 8800GT and having any problems?

Wondering if I should try rolling back my drivers. Also does this place actually get any tech support from the team that made the game or is it purely community based?

---------------------------------------

Right, just tried rolling back my drivers to an earlier version. No Dice. Next thing I'm going to try is a re-download. Maybe the actual installer itself has corrupted somewhere along the line. If this doesn't work then I don't know what the hell is wrong.

That could be an option worth trying. From what I can tell, there are hundreds of helpful individuals on this forum that are willing to lend a hand to fellow sim's players, your bound to find someone with an answer on here.

Well, that didn't work. The fresh download and reinstall didn't fix my problem...now what??

I'm going to send an email to their tech support...

------------------------------------------

Okay, what the hell? Their tech support email doesn't exsist anymore. I just get delivery notification failure when I try to send them an email...I wrote a really long email in detail too. :(

Screw it, I'll attach this here. Please someone help me!

Some of the ED QA team tend to hang out here and will usually lend a hand if we community people draw a blank

Which, unfortunately, I think I may have done in your case. :(

Still have the same problem.

I am getting quite pissed off atm I paid 40 euro for a game that I can't even seem to get working.

I have tried all the options mentioned in this thread.

I hope someone has found a solution.

I really get the feeling that my money was better spend if I had thrown it into a river instead of buying this game.

Koenigstiger, I see you have Secur32.dll errors in there. That's part of the windows security systems and there might be some registry confusion or other shenanigans going on. I also see Saitek in there - have you attempted to start without your Saitek hardware connected? There has been some issues with some Saitek products, such as the X52 and one of their keyboards. (Bunch of threads around on that, can see if I can find them.)

Arkasius, do you have any codec packages installed? Some codec packs have been known to cause issues, so you could try disable any that you do have.

Right I have removed the codec pack.

I had Ace Mega Codecs pack pro v. 5.0 installed.

Game now loads up all the stuff needed for a mission and after the please wait bar is fully loaded the game starts to hang.

There is still processor activity, but no more memory use.

I don't get game images it moves me back to desktop.

The crash file gives me to following line.

I hope someone can help me out with this.

Get memtest and test your memory sticks.

Error code c0000005 with access_violation can occur if you have a faulty memory stick. It should then occur when similar applications are run as well, though it's always worth checking memory health periodically anyway.

Another thing you can test, is to install it in a different directory. Windows can, under certain conditions, get a bit histrionic when stuff are in the Program Files directory since it wants to protect that directory. That could cause Windows to deny access to dll's.

Doing a second install to test that does not require a new activation.

Hmm, I will try this..uhh, could someone tell me what codec packs and where to find them? That would be great.

In response to an earlier question, I do have an X52 Pro but I've been starting the game with it connected...it's been fine before with my stick so don't think that would be the problem.

If someone could tell me where to find these codec packs, then I'll give that a try.

Posted

Yeah...I don't see anything with the words codec or anything relating to that in there though.

The only thing I have with the word 'code' in it is 'dBpoweramp Ogg Vorbis Lancer Encoder' which has been on my PC for ages and is just so I can play certain music tracks from a game that were .ogg files or something. I should imagine it's been there when I first played Blackshark so, what am I looking for? :)
