RickJamesBish Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 I have been unable to get a definitive answer in reference to the Intercom on the F16. I have had some people say "they believe" it is for communication with the ground crew only, in which case there would be no dedicated aircraft to aircraft comms other than tuning to the same frequency on COMM 1 or 2. Is that correct?
Solution razo+r Posted March 26, 2024 Solution Posted March 26, 2024 (edited) Intercom is for communicating with the ground crew while VHF and UHF radios are for calling everything else. Calling other stations besides ground crew with the intercom won't work. You cannot tune a frequency on the intercom and you need to be connected by cable to the aircraft for the intercom to work. In short: Yes, if you want to communicate with anything other than the ground crew, you have to use the VHF or UHF radio. Edited March 26, 2024 by razo+r 1 1
ST0RM Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 It can also be used during AAR with the boom operator, after contact is made. 2
RyanR Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Would a two-seat F-16 use this as well? Random question. -Ryan 1
