New to DCS

I'm taking a "go big or go home" approach to DCS. I have a Winwing Orion 2 Hotas (16EX stick with Orion Throttle 18 w/finger lift) coming tomorrow. I already have an oldish WMR VR headset and Voice Attack software, for easy comms with groundcrew/rio/wizzo.

I have played a few different flight sims over the years. Most recently, Xplane11. My first was probably "LHX Attack Chopper" on the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis in USA). Anyone else remember that one?

I have flown hands-on in a Scottish Aviation Bulldog IRL a few times, as well as passenger ride in Sea King. I love aviation, and DCS is the next logical step.

I will be focusing on the F5E, as the weapons systems look easier and I can learn the basics in it. Maybe the F14 or F18 later on.

Now for a week of working out keybinds and ironing out teething problems!

G'day, Sir! Strap in and enjoy the ride. Don't worry, making all the control assignments takes shorter, maybe 2 hours in total (once you know very well what you need and how you like it), it only feels like a week Judging from the serious gear set you've ordered, you'll have plenty of options.

There are more planes with relatively simple weapons systems, depending on how you define "simple". One day you may want to try the "forever free" A-4E-C Community Mod. You may think that a community mod can't be as good as a paid module, but... not in this case, the Scooter is fantastic (rolls like mad, but one can decrease "Saturation Y" to cicrumvent it).

Whatever you choose, for starters or later - wish you lots of fun

Quite vividly, even the debrief with the cost for repairs, the promotion system and the board (or box?) of medals. It was a beautifully designed game at the time.

I still have a cart of it! You should check out Thunder Helix, it's LHX but made as a passion project.
