Communications menu button stops working during mission

I've experienced this in several of my Ka-50 III missions ... When I'm sat at the airfield, I can use the Communications Menu Button to call up ATC etc. I have the button (/) bound to my Hotas throttle and also to my Voice Attack. The menu works fine until I get airborne. From then on I can't get the comms menu up! I've tried both bindings and th ekeyboard command.

I have tried this in various missions on the Caucasus map, flying out of various airfields, and I get the same thing.

Any ideas?

This is normal behaviour.

Unless you have "Easy Comms" enabled, to communicate in flight you need to tune the R-800 radio and then radio call using the “SPU
9 PTT (Push to Talk)” button on the cyclic (“RALT+/” binding).

Okay. I do have the R-800 radio tuned so I will bind a button to the Push to Talk.
