the game should move on to the next mission in the campaign after the completion of previous mission, normally... if i quit the current mission that i am playing in the middle, what happens at times when i revert back to the same mission the campaign shows me the previous mission to load that i had already completed... why is that...

Snipes, because the campaign system decides on the next mission based on overall progress - including that of your ground troops.

It is not a linear system where you first do "Mission 1" and then do "Mission 2" and then "Mission 3" etcetera.

You first do one of the several "Mission 1" that the system has, and depending on success you might fail the campaign, or you might just narrowly fail so it lets you stay in that "level" and selects a new mission from that level (might become a repeat), or if you are nicely successful it'll select a mission from the next level.

However, if you have a bad "average" it might require a couple more runs to advance, since it selects based on averages, not only your last mission played.

I think the Deployment campaign is different though, in that it uses the same system but only has one mission for each "step".

I've had this happen a few times to me as well. The only times it has happened though is within the first two minutes of the next mission.

are you playing well into your mission before quitting? Or are you quitting after some time?

I happened to me too. I finished a successful mission, and went ahead to look at the next mission briefing and then quit. when I went back at it the next day, I was back to the previous mission. Had to do it again. After finishing it successfully for the second time, I left the game. The previous scenario occured again when I went inti my campaign. This is really anoying.:joystick:

Yes, the same happened to me. Once i had to restart campaign to complete the whole campaign because previous mission was not possible to complete on high score.

I like the idea that i have to do a previous mission based on my current poor performance, it'll make my skill level better... Having said that, once it demoted me to the bloody first FAM mission when i was currently on the sixth mission of the campaign.. That was really annoying...

Found this thread after getting the same problem in deployment campaign.

Nailed the 'Back to Teberda' mission, but failed in the next mission after my AS (Artificial Stupidity) wingy flew right over the top of the town we were attacking and got shot down, leaving me with not enough weapons to complete it.

So when I went to try it again, I am back to the "Back to Teberda" mission. If this is not a bug, it's a very annoying 'feature' of the campaign engine.

This is more a failure of the campaign designer than of the DCS campaign engine. The GUI manual is very specific about how mission scores affect the player's staging within the campaign. With a bit of creative scoring the campaign writer can help ensure that the player isn't unduly penalized for events beyond his control. I think every mission should begin with a score of 50 guaranteeing the player to at least stay in-stage unless he does something to specifically earn a penalty. The "Oil War" campaigns are very well crafted but very poorly scored in my opinion.

My DCS wish list: Su25, Su30, Mi24, AH1, F/A-18C, Afghanistan ...and frankly, the flight sim world should stop at 1995.
