alot2offer Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 after the last update most of my main modules became unauthorized I've managed to fix all but 2 F-15E and F-14- F-15E/bin/ARF.dll Can't move because operation can't find any ideas Thanks
Solution Rudel_chw Posted April 21, 2024 Solution Posted April 21, 2024 Most likely an Antivirus action, check your AV logs to confirm if it is preventing access to any DCS files 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
alot2offer Posted April 21, 2024 Author Posted April 21, 2024 Thankyou I never would have thought of that I disabled protection for the install and everything worked 1

Grizzly473 Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 I'm getting a similar message. Now when I try to update I get window asking what to do with "extra" files. I don't want to tell it to delete them if I can't redownload these modules and campaign.
Grizzly473 Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 Just wanted to update on this for anyone who ran into the same issue. I tried updating DCS again, and when I got the above message again, I clicked on DELETE to see what would happen. The updated finished installing and when DCS restarted, all of my modules and maps were back, including the missions and my campaigns. I'm not savvy enough with (or at all) with the programming side of this to explain what happened, I just know that it's all there again and all working. Just thought I would leave an update in case anyone else ran into this. 1
Grizzly473 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Well, this problem has returned. My DCS seems to have beef with my AV8B. After a lot of fussing to get my new F-4E installed and work, now the Harrier won't work. I've un-installed the module, reinstalled it with the AV off, (which fixed my F-4 installed problem) and it still isn't flyable. Kind of at the end of my patience here. Any useful advice is greatly appreciated folks. Thank you.

In my opinion, it is more likely that your Antivirus does not like your Harrier 20 minutes ago, Grizzly473 said: After a lot of fussing to get my new F-4E installed and work, now the Harrier won't work. I'm not sure which AV you have, but nowadays most AV are hard to really turn them off, honestly it is much easier to setup a path exclusion on your Antivirus management software, this way the AV is still protecting the rest of your system, while keeping it off the DCS storage area. On my AV (MS Defender) I have the exclusion set-up this way: After you have excluded the DCS path, run a DCS repair to undo any file-deletion that your AV might have made. The Harrier works fine on my DCS, so there is no reason it won't even install on yours: Best regards. 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Grizzly473 Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 I will give that a try. Thank you very much for the guidance. I am using ESET and it does have an exclusion function. 1
MikeVNE Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 (edited) I have a slight variation on this theme. I downloaded 2.9 to my brand new PC (Stormforce 4090 + Intel 14k), DCS becoming hard to play in VR on my old 2080 PC. On logging on, however, I got the "unauthorised" message related to my AV8B. Initial tinkering revealed that my McAfee AV did not like the AV8B_FM.dll from the root Mods Folder i.e. DCS/Mods/aircraft/AV8BNA/bin/AV8B_FM.dll McAfee had the file quarantined and would not allow me to exclude it! So I switched off McAfee and DCS loaded normally! All well and good but I prefer to have some AV protection, so I uninstalled McAfee and duly excluded all the relevant folders from Windows Defender thinking I would rely on the Microsoft native AV instead of McAfee. But, guesse what? I got the unauthorised AV8B message on loading, despite the DCS exclusions I had made. I tried excluding all sorts of folders but could not fix it. After doing a clean and a repair I went through the whole process again. But everything went exactly the same as above. So, I reinstalled McAfee and, as before, with it switched off DCS loaded normally and I could fly my beloved AV8B. It just seems to mean that I can't have McAfee (or Windows Defender) switched on when I fly DCS. So for that period of time I am unprotected. Other sims, eg Great Battles, CoD, MSFS etc work fine with McAfee switched on. Any ideas? I Edited June 12, 2024 by MikeVNE typo
