Stupid Question - Open Beta 2.8.4 vs Vanilla 2.9

I've been using 2.8 beta (now at 2.8.4)

Should I just install 2.9 and use that now?

Unless you have a personal reason, there is no reason not to be on the latest version.

Hi all,

what is the best way for me to update from 2.8.4 Beta to 2.9 and retain my setting and installed content?

Any advice most appreciated.

Run the updater like you normally would do. Settings should be kept, however a backup of them would not hurt in case the unthinkable happens. 

Installed official content will not be deleted. However, it is a good idea to remove mods if you have any.

A few people keep 2.8.xx on their PCs because they're not happy with performance they got after 2.9.xx was initially released. For this reason, if you've got enough space on your drive, you might make a backup of your 2.8.4 because you most likely won't be able to revert to it otherwise (using dcs_updater method I mean).

Other than that, I'd recommend updating to latest if you want to play any payware content released within last 12 months. Older DCS version is just not compatible with newer stuff
