1) Jokkmokk is considered an abandoned airfield. I.e. it is not visible in the editor, but it is visible in the running mission.
2) Since the mechanics of abandoned airfields work strangely, this airfield cannot be occupied. You can't put planes on it normally so that the airfield is occupied by the coalition.

This part isnt full done yet. WiP still. Only marked part (by red) is near finish. Jokkmokk is outside this area (placeholder only). It was explained in the FAQ for this map. Bugs and wishes you can add here: https://kola.orbxdirect.com.

  • Two additional airports in Norway (ENBO, ENNA) and three in Sweden (ESNQ, ESNJ, ESUK) are functional but not fully detailed at early-access release.

Yes, but, this airfield/roadbase, idk what it is, was modelled, and in your picture its playable airbase. In game we have destroyed/abandoned pice of infrastructure.

It's a Swedish Air Force "war base", designed and built as a part of the base 90 system. It has Air Force reference number 69 and was built out to its current form in the late 80's. It is still an active military base and is occasionally used for exercises.

Very briefly, the base 90 system's primary design goals are to retain the ability to generate sorties even under strong enemy air threat and to make it as difficult as possible for an enemy to knock out the aircraft while they're on the ground. This is accomplished by building a very large basing area with many runways and highly dispersed aircraft parking. A base like Jokkmokk with its four runways and many dozens of aircraft parking stands is supposed to be the wartime home of just a single squadron (8 aircraft in the air as a tactical unit; total equipment 16 aircraft, ish, at full strength). In the event of mobilization, the squadrons would immediately disperse from their peacetime bases to these war bases, where they'd be much better protected against threats from the air.

I'll probably make an in-depth post on how the system is supposed to work at some point.

Nice to see the field in play on the map now.   Well available and waiting for parking spots.

Hello!

I really like the KOLA-map and think that It is great!!!🙂

Perhaps a bit off topic but It is about Jokkmokk airbase and It is one thing that I find MOST annoying:

That is the ramp that does not exisat in real life. I do not use the Jokkmokk airbase since this ramp was added.

@ORBX Please remove this most unreal and hideous ramp at Jokkmokk airbase!

A have adde two pictures:

One from DCS with the added ramp and one picure with a picture of the Jokkmokk airbase from Eniro-maps here in Sweden.

On the picture from Eniro, one can clearly see tha the ramp does not exist i the real world!

Best regards:

Otulf
