JetCat Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Hi pilots, I have a minor problem with the Apache avionics and simply cannot solve it, not matter how many tutorial videos I watch. The first problem is making the TADS screen crosshair jump to my waypoint seems to be not functional. When repeating the steps of the tutorial videos my TATS screen either does nothing or jumps to a random position in the field The waypoint used as target. Of course there was another great background story related to the Umbrella corporation storing secret bioweapons in this tank near the Area 51 facility and they must be stopped and so on, and the target point would have been named "NEMESIS 1" but unfortunately only three letters are possible. Left multifunctions display sight set to TADS, aquisition is the target point I made (T01), missiles are ready laser is ready, TADS screen is on TADS and T01 - but unfortunately when I press the slave button nothing happens, or sometimes the TADS screen jumps to a random position in the field when having the IHADSS open. Surely there is one detail wrong hm? Why is my TADS not jumping to the pre-defined target point like it does in all YouTube video tutorials? I am sure I haven´t missed one step. The second problem is, the manual says the helicopter is taking these normal casual coordinates I am used from the Fenix Airbus, and also these exciting new "MGRS / UTM" coordinates I have learned about today. In UTM coordinates my waypoint is W84 47 11S PA42682959, but when I enter W844711SPA42682959 as described in Chucks guide to create a new target point the Apache MCDU just blinks and does not accept this coordinate format. What is not correct with this line? When entering N362405W1152463 the new target point is set after adding an altitude number.

There is an issue with drift in the Apache, it is possible that waypoint is wrong. Second issue, you start inputing from 11S, drop the W84 47 part. Can you post a track file? JetCat Posted May 4, 2024 Author Posted May 4, 2024 Hi, thank you very much. I have never before used this coordinate system. What is a track file?
NeedzWD40 Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 A quick way to test would be to set a CAQ point and slave to that, then see if that works.

Create your own mission to test this and once you finish and exit, you will see SAVE TRACK button. Click on that, name it whatever you want and click OK. It will be saved in your DCS saved games under Track folder. Attach that file here.
JetCat Posted May 4, 2024 Author Posted May 4, 2024 Unfortunately I can´t do this for a few days because the trial version of the Apache is now over. But it was the best flying experience I ever had (or was it with the Hind...? Or the A-10 Still not sure...) If everything goes well I will buy it next week
Ditch Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 By any chance were you doing cold starts or multi-crew? We seem to be having these issues with multi crew. If a cold start is done, ensure you wait for location alignment before doing anything that will make the aircraft move, including arming and starting engines. If the coords are correct TSD > COORDS > WPTHZ > Left VABs select a waypoint as an acquisition source. Slaving should work.
