Mnemonic Posted May 5, 2024 Posted May 5, 2024 (edited) Almost all other ED modules have 2 types of FFB effects implemented: - Trim (or actual force of the stick) - Shake (effects from buffeting, stall, gun shooting, etc.) We have shake effects on FC3 jets, on warbirds, but we are missing it on F/A-18 (and F-16 for that matter) F/A-18 implements "Trim" as constant spring (which can be realistic behavior), But unfortunately Hornet completely misses "Shake" implementation. For those who don't want to use "Shake" for the stick, DCS has a setting of Trim and Shake in the "Tune FFB" settings of control assignments, both types of FFB effects are completely adjustable within DCS. Please consider adding "Shake" effects for the Hornet's FFB implementation. Edited May 5, 2024 by Mnemonic 1
Mnemonic Posted May 5, 2024 Author Posted May 5, 2024 (edited) Looking at added tag, I'm not asking about FFB trim, I'm asking about FFB shaking effects, like for other planes: buffeting, stall, gun shooting, catapult launch. Edited May 5, 2024 by Mnemonic 1
MAXsenna Posted May 6, 2024 Posted May 6, 2024 As long as it's optional. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk It’s always optional, option is already in the sim, there is an option in the menu FFB tune, you can set value for “shake” and for “trim” separately, from 0 to 100, when you put 0 on shake - effects do not appear. Itʼs just for most of the planes “shake” effects are there, and for F/A-18 (and F-16) it’s not there 1
HILOK Posted May 6, 2024 Posted May 6, 2024 i think this would be a nice enhancement. according to the manual, buffeting can occur on this AC (not prevented by FBW). didnt see a stick shaker mentioned anywhere, though.
Mnemonic Posted May 6, 2024 Author Posted May 6, 2024 (edited) You can usually feel shake without stick shaker. On A-10 there is no shaker but the whole thing (including stick) shakes like mad on gun firing, you can see liquid in whiskey compass all bubbling up. I don’t think on F/A-18 shaking is not noticeable. FFB controls can be that channel to convey vibrations. And it works and implemented in other modules anyway, it’s not a new feature in DCS per se, it’s just missing on one of the most popular modules, F/A-18. Edited May 6, 2024 by Mnemonic

ED seems to follow the school of thought that force feedback should transmit only the effects that really exist on the control column, not the general cockpit "shakes". And that, for aircraft with hydraulic boosted controls (Sabre and newer), means there isn't much effects other than trim. I don't remember feeling any shakes from gun shooting in any ED module for that matter. Other 3rd parties sometimes have extra effects built in, like Deka with JF-17 or HB with F-14. If you have VPForce Rhino, you can have all the effects you want through TelemFFB software. Don't know about other brands of FFB hardware. 1 Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
