Vannipo Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 After a couple of years, I came back to DCS with a new PC. Ryzen7950X3D, RTX4090, 64GB RAM, Win11Pro. I mainly play in VR, but I have a strange behavior in 2D: Every 3th-8th mouseclick inside DCS, I see my Desktop blinking for 1 frame. No matter whether I am in the startmenu-screen or in game. Everything runs fine beside that blinking. Maybe there is a solution for this? Cheers Vannipo
Tippis Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 That sounds an awful lot like it's trying to change focus and show the desktop because you have clicked something else. Are you running true fullscreen or borderless? Do you have the “confine mouse to game window” option checked? ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
Vannipo Posted May 21, 2024 Author Posted May 21, 2024 Sadly, it makes no difference if I turn both of those options on or off. DCS keeps blinking on 30% of my mouse clicks.
Tippis Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Darn. Next guess would be that it's basically the opposite: that something else is trying to steal focus for whatever reason, and DCS is flighting back since you've set it up that way. Are you running any external tools or mods that might react to what you do in-game, or which have their own overlays that might be of the mistaken impression that they're being called for? I know it's a bit of a shot in the dark, but I hade a very similar problem once and I tracked it down to — of all things — the fan controller software trying to tell me that, onoz, demand for cooling just rose and would I like to adjust my profile to something more aggressive? So it might not even be DCS that's annoying here. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
Vannipo Posted May 22, 2024 Author Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) No, as far as I can see, there is nothing running in the background which is trying to get focus. Nevertheless I stopped every process which is not necessary. Nothing changed. Btw, because of corsair iCUE is running in the background, I can see, that windows does not focus on something else. If it would, iCUE would change my keyboard color settings immediately to my default desktop theme. And I have this problem with DCS only. No other game/program is blinking away on mouse clicks. Solution Vannipo Posted May 25, 2024 Author Solution Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) After a fresh Windows11 install, the blinking is gone. So, it could have been... everything. Maybe it was the in the BIOS disabled internal GPU of the Ryzen7950X3D, which I deactivated after the last windows install. Maybe there were some driver files left, somewhere. But who knows. Tippis Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Good to hear. Yay for Bohr bugs. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
