Kafka Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 When going to load bombs on a station I'm presented with a list of bomb types that are confusing me. Has anyone found a simple explanation of what the following mean: GBU-38 *-* GBU-38 */* GBU-38 *\* GBU-38 GBU-38 (V)1/B - JDAM 500lb GPS Guided Well I know what the last one is, but I thought all GBU-38 were JDAM? What's the *-* etc mean? I've tried to search for a simple list of bomb types for DCS but can't find anything.
razo+r Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) The *-* shows how and on which station of the TER (Tripple Ejector Rack) the bomb is being mounted on. And yes, all GBU-38 are JDAMs. It can be that if Razbam has set it up in such a way that if it uses a special or different pylon setup, that the displayed name is different, which is why you see only GBU-38 and not GBU-38 500lbs JDAM or whatever. But there is no difference between the bombs, just a matter of where and how it's loaded and the name defined in the code. Edited May 22, 2024 by razo+r
Recluse Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 See this LOADOUT REWORK post for some more information: For example, you will notice that you cannot have Sidewinders or Sidearms on the wingtips if you have 2 JDAM on the adjacent pylon on the \ configuration that puts them close to the wingtip, but you CAN with the / configuration.
