Six Gun Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 (edited) When the radar is active the FPS drops a lot. When Jester is told to put the radar in standby the FPS comes back up to normal. Not sure if this was reported. Edited May 24, 2024 by HB_Painter Classification of Bugs and User reports 1 1

My rig is a 9900k OC'd to 5GHz, a 3090Ti (also OC'd slightly), 32gb of DDR4 RAM and DCS is installed on an NVME SSD. It's pretty aggressive and in one of the worst phases of flight. 1 My YT Channel (DCS World, War Thunder and World of Warships) Too Many Modules to List --Unapologetically In Love With the F-14-- Anytime Baby! --
riojax Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 (edited) When I turn on the radar, my FPS goes from 60 to 14 due CPU BOUND. My CPU is a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 3950X, but I did also test it on an Intel i9 with same results (and also the problem that one thread was assigned to an E-Core) This is the top thread usage for DCS with RADAR STANDBY: And this with RADAR ON: As you can see thread 11260 is always using 100% per core CPU on RT priority (as I have 16 cores this is a 6.25% total CPU) With RADAR ON the 11748 is taking 100% also in high priority, also threads 6520 and 8904 + 3784 and 6264 takes 100% for two cores (they are running in the same core) This is the backtrace of threads 11260 and 11748 with RADAR STANDBY: And this with RADAR ON: This is the backtrace of threads 6520 and 8904 with RADAR STANDBY: And this with RADAR ON: This is the backtrace of threads 3784and 6264 with RADAR ON: Also this TID is taking a lot CPU with jester menu closed, probably is generating the jester static and waiting for and event (please, add a special option to disable the jester static) Edited May 23, 2024 by riojax too much javascript 2

At take off as well here. i5 10400 and it can handle the F-15E radar fine. 1

If not just either do a new thread or write here I apologize for not being specific on FPS numbers and specs. I'll leave them below. I turned my settings in DCS all the way down and tried it as well with the same results. This is on a multiplayer server with the multi-threading icon to start DCS. Ryzen9 3900X CPU, 64GB DDR4 3600 RAM, RX6800XT GPU, HP G2 VR Headset. All running the latest drivers. The FPS on the ground on average is about 60FPS in MP. When the radar comes on after take off it shoots down to between 10 and 15FPS. This is on the Syria map, not sure if that helps or makes a difference. Edited May 24, 2024 by Six Gun
