Padonis Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 Does anyone know how to export RWR and Radar to a second monitor in the F-4E Phantom?

I get the RWR to 'export', but rather than going on the secondary monitor it appears on the main screen off to the side and scaled far too large. Makes me wonder if there's a bug, but without more evidence I don't want to blame something else. Haven't found the radar (or anything else) but just started looking; today is my first day back from vacation. 1

I've got a pair of Cougar MFDs hooked up, and after several minutes (10-30) they both go dark and their displays go to the far right side of the triple setup and are also scaled too large. My main display is also squashed a bit to allow these enlarged displays to cover most of the 3rd screen. I can quit DCS and restart, and the problem is gone for another few minutes. Haven't used them with the F-4E, but this happens also with the F-16C and the F-5 (shows the radar only). Maybe not directly related to your problem, but I am watching this thread to see what you find. Edited May 29, 2024 by VZ_342

Maybe not directly related to your problem, but I am watching this thread to see what you find. I run 4 Cougars with monitors behind them and have never actually seen this; one of them is directly attached to the video card and the other three to a 4 port USB-C to HDMI converter (F-18 radar lags when it's on the converter). Once in a great while the USB-C device will need a reset, but once that's done everything works again. They get used on the F-18, F-16, F-5, F-14, and anything else I decide to set them up on. Of course that's cheating. On the F-4 all four Cougar monitors are blank unless I kick on the kneeboard, then it's where (ED thinks) it belongs way over on one corner of those distant monitors in a completely unusable location. Changing that is also cheating, so I don't use the kneeboard because I'm too lazy to fix it and I've gotten used to not having one. Anything I try to export from the F-4 shows up on the side of the main screen scaled wrong, almost as if the F-4 refuses to recognize anything but the main view port. Posted on the bug reports, got crickets back. It either gets fixed some day or it doesn't, in the mean time my RWR is an overlay on the right side of the screen. Almost better that way. 1
VZ_342 Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Ok cool, thanks. I am using a USB 3.0-->2 port HDMI, is your 4 port USB-C a standalone (powered?) device?

No external power, just plug and play. A little slow on the refresh, but those exported screens don't need blinding refresh other than maybe radar, which is why it's on the card. I don't notice the delay on any of the other screens (or even the F-16 radar). https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB-HDMI-Adapter-Converter/dp/B09CDZXX3S/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1C8EBDG4P74Y0&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.W4O8i5syNQMMJPA8-iZ53ooGjZQPA-Y9DK-7sobGQu4ncH3lrhjXhoVVS1Ex5vY95BAJCOiRJf3jW8o-e5FBAUTgSXzeQNdTvsAMyN0M5_2TPcdo8EftKZBRMrR3X2L_YfS5vVaLIGqm8PtnaBUcoDnAOaZZCmhuKsVJYkjMUgSA9vFgDehVibjBLx7B5KmXE3jRIpEhQ2ogw_QWz-dy_Elf9nLCyUVUowzkDzAQ_L4.7BN-BGYfHw080QDiExzRf2YAsvNJWsNJIL1VMkeY0Q8&dib_tag=se&keywords=usb-c+to+4-port+hdmi+multi-monitor+adapter&qid=1717004455&sprefix=4+port+usb-c+to+hdmi+adapter+for+monitor%2Caps%2C191&sr=8-4
