nikoel Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 (edited) Hey Guys Congratulations on a successful launch of the F4E she is a beaut Just wanted to say that the first 3-4 training missions are the cats pyjamas. The best even - which sets us up for a real shame of what follows. Reminds me of when I was young, I would start a project filled with excitement and boatload of will power to do the best I can... only to mismanage and exhaust all that will power or time and have to quickly finish the rest before the deadline A visual representation is below: l As an example, in the A2A mission, the ACM CAA Cage modes which are the real meat and potatoes are brushed over at the speed of light by Jester's evil twin. Leaving massive questions unanswered (for instance, why were we in heaters to acquire a radar lock to switch to Aim7 afterwards; or something that is not mentioned at all the Jester do it all button, etc...) I understand why this might be, I just hope when the dust settles you will revisit these and give the start a worthy finish too Edited May 24, 2024 by nikoel 3 1
Kang Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Frankly, the CAA training mission contains several errors I am sure, which are not terrible but a thing still: There might be a reason to go to heaters before lock on, but for the second enemy plane I cycled through the entire process, selected AIM-7s immediately and it worked just the same. I might have misheard that, but I also believe the instructor said the sight should be set into A/G mode.

Like yourself, I palmed it off as a slip of the tongue The procedures you mention also work for me directly via the Radar function too. I do have a suspicion as to why they have gone about it this way. (In short in CAA mode Gun makes the radar scan slightly to the left, heat makes the radar scan straight ahead, and radar makes the radar scan slightly right <- to be fair to HB that was mentioned but raced over) I think a lot of people are aboard the A2A struggle bus. Even growling sidewinder suspiciously did not put out any gun kills; got called out for it; only to showcase the gun in A2G mode Edited May 25, 2024 by nikoel

The information given is correct, but there is a didactic obstacle: One word in the sentence must be replaced by another one, namely "and" with "even" So please understand the sentence in the following way: "ACM is used if an AIM-7, AIM-9 or the M61A1 has to be used against an airborne target even with the Optical Sight being in the Air to Ground mode." If you are in A2G mode, you can immediately use A2A weapons by selecting ACM by pressing the "Cage Button" one time. Edit: This issue is now reported to the team.
