Alphamale Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Learning this sim will take long enough, I was wondering if anyone would care to share their X52 .DAT profile for this? TIA :helpsmilie:
nomdeplume Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I use the newer version which uses .pr0 files and is incompatible with the .dat files (as I found when I upgraded it... grumble). You actually might want to upgrade to the current beta version as the older software doesn't recognise Right-Shift, Right-Ctrl and Right-Alt as being separate modifiers to the left ones, while Black Shark does. If you want to keep using the current software just make sure to change the shortcuts within the game for any control which uses a right-modifier. Otherwise you'll get unexpected results. You can get the beta from here: http://saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=16643 You probably are better off making your own profile with commands in places that are intuitive to you then trying to learn someone else's button layout. What would probably accelerate the process though is info on which buttons are must-haves on the HOTAS controls, which are nice-to-haves, and which can be left to the keyboard or mouse-clicking in the cockpit. Do you have a head-tracking system (e.g. TrackIR)? If not then mapping something to control your view would probably be high on the list. But also getting a head-tracking system should be a priority, too. ;) Look on the Controls configuration under the "Ins Cyclic Stick" and "Ins Collective Stick" to see what controls in the Ka-50 are placed at the pilot's fingertips. They make a good place to start for your profile. Also make sure the countermeasure start button (Insert) is available for easy access. I don't know how real pilots deal with having it in its actual location. Until the patch is released to fix the autopilot heading hold behaviour, you might want to map that to a button as well (probably shifted). Real pilots don't turn it off every time they want to turn, and apparently its behaviour will be fixed in the upcoming patch, but for now I find it helpful to have easy access to it. You might want to see if AP director control is sufficient though, or if the "hold trim, turn, release" method is comfortable for you. On the subject of flight controls, definitely map the trimmer function (T) somewhere convenient, but you can skip "trimmer reset" which is a bit of a cheat/hack and you don't actually need to use it. The four targeting mode buttons are a good way to chew up a hat stick, and so are the weapon selection options. I use the second hat switch for the targeting modes, and the same one with the pinky switch for weapon selection. You'll want to be able to select inner, outer, and the cannon. That leaves you one direction left for either A-A mode or all stations. I use A-A mode as I've never needed to select all stations, but your mileage may vary. I think those are the main "must-haves", at least for how I fly. It could be worth playing round with the route mode, auto-descent, hover-hold etc. and see which functions you're likely to use a lot. I do have hover-hold mapped for easy access, but not the others.
nemises Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 ..the alternative to using an SST profile , is to directly bind the buttons in game.. BS recognises all stick buttons and axis, and allows for using a "shift" key (ie. pinkie switch). I found this easier at first, as I could go into the menus (as nomnom suggests above) , go to the "cyclic" section and "collective" section, and just asign buttons directly as they should be.
Xjikz Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I will share my profile (which is a ".dat" file) this evening when I'll be at home. (I have the original sst software and driver which were on the installation disc) Proud to be a [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] :joystick::pilotfly::book:

Ramstein Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 no reason at all to use old software and profiles, as the keyboard functions were limited at that time... which have since been fixed! but if someone insits on using old stuff that is only partially working,, I guess they want that.. :joystick: ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
Xjikz Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 (edited) Here is the link to my "old style" profile :joystick: http://dl.free.fr/qyJTzqKvY Some buttons have french names but see the key it is assigned to, to know the function... or you should learn French :book::lol: ps: I keep the old software because I just don't want to make my profile again in order to be compatible with the new soft!
