I mean, almost always (in MP) I need two R60M up his arse to shoot him down... Thats odd isnt it?

Haven't tried MP but I got an R-3S up the tailpipe of my F4 and both engines caught fire. All controls stopped working and I barely managed to eject.

I've done quite a lot of dogfighting in singleplayer and all hits from heaters have taken out my F4 in a single hit.

Not necessarily:

“Battle-damaged F-4E-32-MC (S/N 67-321) of the 366th Tactical Fighter Wing. 1Lts. Wesley E. Zimmerman and David J. Craighead successfully recovered their crippled F-4E after receiving serious damage in engagements with MiGs, SAMs and AAA. With two hydraulic systems gone, the rudder shot away, no drag chute, half the trailing edge slat on each side destroyed, and moderate damage to the right engine and wings, they nursed their fighter home. Despite the high speed required by the no-flap approach, Lt. Zimmerman made a successful landing and barrier engagement. (U.S. Air Force photo)”

Note, many Israeli & Iranian F-4s returned to base despite extensive damage from AAA and missiles (AA and SAM). In one instance , an Iranian F-4E lost a Sparrow duel with a U.S. Navy F-14 in the 1980s. The Phantom II still made it back to base despite being hit.

Then we have Showtime 112 flying long enough to get feet wet even after being hit by a SAM. The F-4 Phantom II is surprisingly resilient for a tactical fighter.

R60 is one of the weekest missiles in game, so that is not very surprising. depends also on the angle, and where you hit.

Currently there are over 1500 possible failures in the F4.

Personally I like the fact it doesnt always explode and kill you straight away. Just cause it doesnt go down in 15 seconds doesnt mean it will make it home

Exactly this! In F-16, F-18, and F-15E the first part that was damaged was the pilot, head down and au revoir, the plane is flying and you are dead, the F-4 is fine, the plane probably won't fly far, but it's the first plane in which I have the opportunity to eject. In aircraft such as F-16, 18, 15E, the ctrl + e combination can be safely removed and assigned to something else, it will not be useful. Big props for Heatblur!

This wasnt a rant guys, just my observation. Sometimes it goes down after one hit..sometimes its just heavily damaged. But sometimes it still in the air and can maneuver....
