dogfight override 1st stage trigger

Am I crazy or does the first stage of the trigger dampen the flight control input when pressed and held in dogfight mode? I have a 2 stage trigger and I find myself prepping the trigger for a shot but when I press the trigger first stage, its like my control inputs are reduced in half. 

I'm using a realsim R3 ultra, and their stick, if that makes a difference. Perhaps its an issue with the hardware, instead of with DCS?

I can say that it doesn't happen for me with a virpil. I also tend to depress the first stage in preparation for a gun shot.
