Silent Film Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Hello! When I run out of fuel, I can't lower landing gear nor I can use air brakes. Is there some battery that I can turn on in that case, or some hydraulic system, that would allow me to lower landing gear and use air brakes? Or the aircraft is doomed when out of fuel?
ricktoberfest Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 There should be an emergency gear extension switch somewhere. Airbrake probably won’t work though as I assume it requires hydraulics 2
Galinette Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Realistically, the aircraft is doomed, yes. There has been a specific no engine landing procedure in the past, if I remember properly on a 30000ft/40NM glide path. You need to maintain 260kts CAS and 30% engine windmilling to have sufficient hydraulics. It has been tested in DCS and works. This procedure has been abandonned and AFAIK if you can't airstart your engine, pilots eject. 3
