airea Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I dont know if someone tried this before but I just discovered that BS can be played in 3D with 3d goggles... Recently, a tv channel in my country aired a 3d episode of Chuck (a popular comic tv show, not my favorite but I sometimes watch when I have nothing else to do). This channel bundled a free 3d glass for the show with a weekly magazine. I bought the glasses and tried it on Black Shark. It works... What you need? First, you need a pair of 3d glasses. Those with different colored pieces, one side yellow, the other side blue for instance. Second, you need a software to make BS play in two different colors on your screen. Luckily, there is such a piece of software on the net for free, called iZ3D. I guess it is a software specifically made for its own 3d hardware system. But anyhow, the program is good for our purposes. It is only 6,5 mb's and you can download the program from http://iz3d.com/download/files/iZ3DDriverSetup.1.09.exe Depending on the colors of your glasses, you can select blue/yellow or red/magenta on the program. You have to select "Enable Stereo", "Anaglyp" and the color of your glasses on the menu. Then, it is all done. The program has hot keys for fine tuning (convergence, depth, on-off etc) during the game. I just tried it for few minutes with TrackIR. Pros: * It really puts immersion one step ahead with TrackIR. The cockpit was nearly popping out of the screen:) * It is easy to use, easy to adjust and free. * I have tried it on a 17" CRT monitor, and it really worked well. I believe that it would be much better on a decent, big LCD with enough viewing distance. Cons: * I dont think that it is good for eyes. If you cannot fine tune the depth, seperation and convergence, be ready for some eye-ache (an ache like when you cross your eyes). * HUD is not well-read in 3d mode. Maybe it is because of my monitor. * If you are using multi monitors, the Shkval screen is also kinda distorted on the second monitor. * Your monitor's brightness should be really high (or you have to dim the lights), because the glasses block the ligth too much. I dimmed the lights in my room but this time, I was not able to find the keys on the keyboard:) I dont know whether BS can be played for long hours on 3d mode but I guess it worhts a try.... Regards...

Mr_Blastman Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Why use 3d goggles if you can use a fresnel lens instead? Works just as well without the headgear. http://www.rickleephoto.com/rlcoll.htm Also, there is no framerate hit.

I agree that this fresnel lens is much better then the 3d glasses but I guess there should be a major drawback on the fresnel side, the cost:) The 3d glasses and the software is free and you dont need any other headgear...
yeepeekai Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Works great in external view, but definitevely an eye killer  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] And... Hum... Sorry for my english...
Made.In.China.00 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Nvidia has a solution with 120hz monitor and lcd shutter glass, it doesn't cause headache nor kill your eyes, and doesn't filter out any color, but it's quite expensive.
Made.In.China.00 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 it's call nvidia 3d vision Link http://www.nvidia.com/object/GeForce_3D_Vision_Main.html
Mr_Blastman Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 The fresnel solution costs... 50 bucks at most. Not too bad. :)
