Jester wont lock

Hey everyone,

when i try BVR jester wont lock on any targets until they are 2 miles ahead or not at all, always saying “unable” or “ “cant do it”, i try to lock with to contxt button with no success. In cage mode it works fine most of the time, i cant find out why its happening and its freaking me out .all of my radar missiles are missed even if i do get a lock

I suspect there was no target visible on the screen, no? If nothing is on the screen (and his cursor on it), he also cant lock it - makes sense.

You probably did not maneuver the aircraft in a way that his commanded antenna angle would be able to show the target. Or there was too much noise going on so that he failed ot set a good gain.

Hard to guess without some info. Perhaps a screenshot, short video or SP track would be helpful

I notice jester is always lowering the gain too much, if I jump in the back seat and bump the gain I can lock an f5 at 20+NM with a little look up angle. Jester however won't see the same target with his gain settings until <8nm.

Trying to override his gain from upfront is a no go also, he always dumps the gain way too low.

I noticed this also. This is one of the reasons, in my opinion, why he usually detects targets when they're already very close, if at all.

Yeah, having issues, did a training exercise yesterday, 40 mile split, straightforward flying towards each other,. "Hostile"  2000 ft higher, straightline, hot at constant speed, no manouvering.

We did 4 passes and I could not see anything on the radar or get Jester to see and lock anything.........within 5 miles, could use cage mode no problem.

Tried wide and narrow scans, nothing.......I was not expecting anything further out than 25 or 30 miles of course, but got nada all the way in

Can you perhaps share a quick SP track? Then its easier to fine tune his "gain-algorithm" for that situation better

I had good results when I commanded a 25nm narrow search and very poor results in a 50nm wide search. Against a MiG-21, Jester would find him at over 20nm in the first scenario and at around 4nm in the second. I haven't tested this very extensively though.
