Guest Yeltzin Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Hi guys.. Just bought the new gfx-card Radeon HD4770.. upgraded from an old 8600GT.. This should give me about 3 times more fps if it's just up to the gfx-board, and so it does in all other games.. BUT not in lockon.. exactly the same fps 22 on airport (lots of objects) and 30-35 flying (less objects).. no change.. Why? Is it some other hardware that holds back, or is it just somewhere i need to tell the computer to USE the new hardware in the game.. I also have : CPU : intel Q6600 2.4Ghz Mem : 4 GB
mrbinkels Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 (edited) Lockon and BS are more cpu dependent then GPU dep. and benefit greatly from a cpu upgrade. I went from a x1950 to a 3850 hoping to see a frame rate increase but had none. After doing some more research I realized my P4 3.0 cpu was not geting the job done. Did a complete upgrade, see sig below, to fix my low fps issue. Vekkinho Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Welcome to Eagle Forums Yeltzin! Ehm, that's about the same that happened to me, I was using X800 and switched to HD3850 (both GFx in AGP) but FPS did not increase! Trouble is your (and mine) CPU is a bottleneck here and always will be as the LOFC is a CPU heavy game! So more clocks and GHz your CPU has, more FPS you'll see! Although your picture quality might be better (shadows, clouds, fog seem better in my case!) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CAT_101st Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I foung that with my old CPU (AMD x2 6400 @3.3)and same setup I was gitting 10,000 on 3dmark06. With the new PII 940 x4 at stock speed (3.0gh) I was gitting the full output of my 8800GT hitting 16,000. Ocing to 3.8gh only gets me a extra 500 points so I am at the point of a new vid card. I hope this helped a little. Im gitting 45-60 FPS in BS.
