I had a chat with the developers on their Facebook page and they confirmed for DCS you only need to run the installation file. No need to copy any folders or files into the scripts folder.

Also tried to get them into this forum for feedback. They say they have tried but not been able to setup an account because they are not receiving the confirmation email? I tried to setup a new account myself to test and same thing. The confirmation email never comes to give full access. @BIGNEWY is there anyone that can look into this issue?

Does Simhaptic work with NLR HF8 pad like simshaker does? Means running basshakers and haptic pad simultainusely and combining effects like simshaker?

I'm referring to not being able to setup an account to join the forum for the developers. I posted it over in the forum issues section as well.

Someone asked this over in the rkApps forums and the devs said it was not supported directly but you can certainly try it and see what effect you get.

Just installed Sim Haptic and man, what should I say… It works!!! After having tried Andres  SimShaker for aviators incl. the Sound Module, as well as the “Buttkicker” Hapticonnect Flight Pack software, I was very disappointed by the performance of those software packages and my Buttkicker Gamer Plus. I mean, both software packages work to a certain degree but either they are to complicated to install and run (SimShaker) or not all features work (Buttkicker’s Hapticonnect)!

Sim Haptic on the other side is easy to install, after setting it up ist starts automatically with DCS and all features work. You can even choose between different effects for each point. I’m a Newbee to DCS and it can be very overwhelming at some point, but this is the kind of software I really like.😀

I've been using for a few days now and I like it however some of the default settings are shaking the paint of the walls and I'm not sure how to make setting adjustments in-game. When I close DCS, the SimHaptic software says Waiting... (I assume it's waiting for me to start DCS again).

I'm sure there's a way to pause DCS and access the SimHaptic tuning screen - yes?

Yes, there is a way! I have attached a second monitor where I do my webbrowsing, editing and so on. The active Sim Haptic Window is also runing on this monitor. If I want to change the parameters, I "active pause" DCS, change to the active Sim Haptic window, make the change and then go back and continue my flight. Be aware, that you mouse cursor has to be back on the DCS screen, otherwise DCS will not get active again. You will notice the made changes instantly when back in DCS.

And you are right regarding shaking intensity. I did spent an hour or two to go through the different effects and volumes and I am still working on it. I reduced most volumes to probably 20% and that is working for me. Flaps, Airbrakes and Gear  vibrations are much to dominant in the original settings, whereas Touchdown is barely noticable. Instrument humming was overwelming and I reduced it to about 10%. (I can post my values later, when back at home!)

Thanks. I don’t have a 2nd monitor handy but if SimHaptic is open in the tray, I’m reading that I should be able to pause the game and Alt+Tab to jump to another program. I’ll give that a shot later tonight and see.

Yes, once you get your settings dialed in, I would appreciate a look - thanks!

Hi, as promised, here are my settings so far. (Low Cut Off Off, High Cut OFF 80, Volume 25) Not every point is optimised yet, but well, those seat shakers are some kind of a trade off anyway! You can also turn off Drag Chute and Hook! Hope that helps a bit!

The effects will not be as good as with SSA, it is written in the SimHaptic manual!

HF8

Note: at this point, SimHaptic does not come with native support for HF8, therefore, it can be used only by the 3.5mm cable coming with HF8.

Please follow the steps below in order to get the most out of HF8 and SimHaptic:

  1. Plug in the audio 3.5mm jack to sound card

  2. Use Stereo mode on SimHaptic setting tab

  3. Hold the red knob on the HF8 controller for 5 seconds until light flashes to swap between USB and Audio Jack modes.

Although some of the effects are better than those of simshaker, as well as the interface, in my case it works but at the cost of a drop in performance in the form of stutters, very noticeable when turning the view in the cockpit in VR. I think it has to do with the way simhaptic do the export in the script.lua. Even if I don't start the software, just with the line it adds it already generates the stutters.

--[[SIMHAPTIC_REFERENCE]]dofile("C:\\Program Files\\SimHaptic/Plugins\\DCS\\SimHaptic.lua")

I have tried to post on your forum, but new posts say that they are pending modification and it has already happened to me twice that they are not published. I managed to reply to another post (if you reply, it does not need moderation) because it did not load other plugins (vaicom), and they sent me an email so that I could send them information about the content of my export.lua, but after that, although they fixed that bug, they no longer have answered me again.

I've been testing for several days, I have plenty of equipment (quest pro, 4090...), and it's that simple, with the simhaptic line in the export.lua = stutters in VR.

Anyone else has happened?

Thanks for your reply! I have the HF8 connected via USB and don‘t want to change something. So I‘ll see how simhaptic evolves and stay with SSA for the time being.

I've been having an issue where SimHaptic has been messing up trim.

If let SH autoload at DCS start, the trim won't work in the KW, but if I start SH and then start DCS the trim does work.

I got my ButtKicker PLUS a few days ago and downloaded SimHaptic too since I was reading around that was way more detailed and customizable then HaptiConnect.. and indeed it is..

at the begininning I had no shake at all with both software ..the problem was my export.lua file that was messed up since a few months ago I exported with helios some F15E gauges on an external monitor, when I restored a clean export.lua file I backed up before, finally I get it to work.. the problem that still I have with BOTH software is the GUNS..I've tried with F14, F5 and F4..

I have no shake\vibration when firing guns and when using the speed brake too..has anyone experienced the same problem or it's just me? 😕

Thanks again for sharing your SH settings C180Pilot. I solved my own issue of how to view the SimHaptic settings panel in-game. For idiots like me reading this... running DCS on the monitor (instead of VR) obviously solves this 🤪.  Anyway, I was able to make the adjustments for the F/A-18C and it really makes a world of difference!  Most of the default settings are too strong but after fine-tuning the strength of each, it's much better! Plus, the Effect menu for each setting is next level with several different effects to choose from. Well worth the $30 IMO.

I have but they don't seem to monitor it much, I think that now that they have pulled in the DCS community they need to be a bit more active.

RkApps launched DCRealistic this AM. I haven’t tried it yet and hoping they post a demo video soon vs this walkthrough. It would be helpful seeing these effects in action but they do offer the free 7-day test drive for this as well.

The video says DCRealistic is different from their Simhaptic software as it’s more of a visual effects enhancer. The walkthrough says it integrates and enhances the Simhaptic effects for an even better experience and it works in VR. Certainly worth a look. If anyone has tried it, please share your thoughts.

I'll try it today, yesterday could not download the file due to win11 deleting the file as virus risk 🥲
