Up to now I've been flying on the Hind on a private server with Easy Comms on. Have had no issues rearming etc.

Just tried a public server and I assume Easy Comms was off, as I couldn't rearm.

According to the briefing, the FARP I was at was on 127.5Mhz AM, and that should have been channel 0 on the 863 radio. So I bind that Radio key, make sure it's channel 0, but still can't rearm.

Maybe the mission creator has changed the default channel 0 on the Hind I think, so I go try it on a private test mission, and same thing. Where I used to be able to rearm there, with easy comms off I can't.

Is there some magic method to talk to FARPs in the Hind? I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

Ahhh I think I figured it out....

You have to talk to ground crew on Intercom, but you can't just press the 1st stage radio button (which says intercom). You also have to put the ICS/Radio switch up to ICS.

Seems pretty odd that there's 2 radio buttons on the cyclic, and also a switch that has to be in the right position on the panel? Might as well just have 1 button on the cyclic?

AFAIK, the cyclic is for in-aircraft comm, flipping the switch on SPU-8 up will engage the external PA to talk to ground crew while cabin is closed

Ahhhh I see. Before I figured it out I also tried opening the pilot door but that didn't work either.

Sometimes that will happen if the engine/rotor is spinning, and your voice is “being drowned out.”

Never really thought that they might have factored that in 🙂

Yup, when the aircraft is shutdown and quiet, opening the window should be enough. 🙂
