My Mission Files

My mission files have all disappeared since the recent big update. At least I think that's when they disappeared. They are not in the folder when I go to My Missions, and I must have had about 30 of them. Perhaps they were misplaced when I placed the M.2 drive which DCS is on into my new PC. I'm not 100 % sure because both the update and the new PC came close together for me.

I must still have them somewhere. How do I find them and where do I put them?

Do a search in your root directories for *.miz

That should point you to where they are.  Copy them to your Saved Games/DCS.openbeta/Missions folder (you may have Saved Games/DCS/Missions in which case put them there).

I actually found that they are already in  my Saved Games folder as Miz files but they don't appear in My Missions.... if I actually want to load one and fly it.

the load mission dialog box only shows missions for Maps that you have active, missions for other msps are not shown.

All of my Maps are active and working, though! So back to square one I guess.

OK I figured out what happened. Somehow the update put files on Drive C though I have the DCS Sim on Drive D. So DCS is using the files in Saved Games on Drive C insteard of D. I copied the Mission files from the Saved Gamed folder in Drive D to the Saved Games folder in Drive C..........and they now appear in DCS as they should. I'll figure out how to get everything onto the D Drive later. Thanks

windows can have just a single saved games special folder per user, the other one is just a normal folder that happens to be named  "saved games"

The thing is I set Windows to make my E Drive the default so things are going to get messy. I think I am supposed to eventually delete the entire Saved Games folder in C. This is a new PC I have so I am still setting it up. Rather slowly.

Careful before you delete anything! Right click the Saved Games, to see if you can move it. Then you'll know if it is the Windows Saved Games folder. Come to think of it. Actually, if it has the special Saved Games icon you will know. DCS will ALWAYS use the Windows Saved Games folder.
Cheers!
