Trouble getting external tanks to refuel in AAR

Since the patch changing engine spool up, it seems I cannot get "FULL" indicator lights on the external tanks when AAR.  I stay hooked up to the tanker after internal fuel gauge reads full, but nothing seems to be happening.  If I do a manual disconnect from the tanker then I get radio message from tanker that refueling is complete.  I have tried with the external tanks selected and off, with no difference.

Anybody else having the same issue?

Are you sure you actually fully refueled them? It can take up to 10-15 minutes depending on the situation.

Might want to share a track, then I can tell you the fuel state in all individual tanks directly :)

You were right.  I just wasn't allowing enough time.  Refuel is much slower than I am used to.  Thanks for the help. 🙂

What speed do we have the tanker to fly at I have just made mission and set o 250 KTs.   Is that too slow ??

It might be. As far as I understand, navy aircraft refuel slower because there’s a risk of overspeeding the probe opening/closing mechanism.

Air force aircraft don’t have that restriction. If I remember correctly, the ideal refuelling speed for an F-16 is 310KIAS for example (while an F-18 needs to stay under 270).

It might be worth experimenting a bit to see what “feels” best in terms of responsiveness and the lowest risk of overcorrection/PIO. Providing the current FM is reasonably accurate, that should get you close enough 🙂
