  1. Tankers and cargo...now THERE is the reason to have AI. Each their own. For me it is high fidelity "combat" that sets DCS apart. Not berating others preferences. I just think ED is straying from a great formula. I enjoy an occasional cargo run in the Huey, but would not have bought the module if it did not have a gunship loadout available.
  2. Aside from limited "defensive" capabilities the Chinook effectively removes the "C" from DCS. If I just want to experience the flight characteristics there in another flight sim that has more varied terrain and aircraft. Trainers and trash-haulers just don't do it for me in DCS.
  3. I could not get "Touchdown" to work either. You don't notice it missing if you are moving horizontally as ground rumble kicks in. If you fly in a helicopter, landing vertically, or if you turn off the other feedback options except "Touchdown" in a fixed wing then you notice it missing. Others I fly with have the same experience.
  4. My prescription is -5.25 and -4.75. Pretty thick and I have no problem with eye tracking.
  5. Really looking forward to this.
  6. Found the problem thanks to Flappie. Something changed with the recent DCS updates and the mods I have been using for over a year started causing the trouble. I deleted the mods and now views work as they should. Lesson learned!
  7. Flappie, you were right it was the mods. Something changed with the recent DCS updates and the mods started causing the trouble. Since I had the same problem on the PC I "thought" had no mods installed, I had ruled them out in my troubleshooting. After your response above, I dove deeper into that installation and found several of the same mods. I deleted the mods on both PCs and now views work as they should. Lesson learned! Thanks again for your help.
  8. Thanks for the reply Flappie. I tried the track and I can look down the gunsight. I found that for some reason when I enter the gunner position my default view is looking at the back of the other gunner. When I turn around to face my gun I can not look down the gunsight. Also the gun jumps to full traverse side to side when aiming. I uninstalled all mods with no luck and tried it on another pc that has never had a mod on it with the same results. Thanks again for the help Here is the log file: dcs.log
  9. Been trying to get the Huey multi-crew working with the side gunners. Used to be a player could jump into a side gunner (without head tracking) and have a down the gunsight view that is mouse controlled. Now when going to a side gunner you cannot see the gunsight due to a gunner body in the way. This is the same in single player on the ground switching to a gunner position. I have tried using the "hide pilot body" key command and option with no effect.
  10. Thanks for the reply. I tried both of those suggestions with no luck. I am stuck looking at the back of the gunner.

  12. Worked out of the box with SSA for me as well. When you start SSA do you get two windows? One should be the "Seat handler" that shows vibration level and a "ForceFeel seat state okay" notification in the lower left. The other window is SSA effects/settings. Under settings does the "Test Vibe Motors" work on your seat? I know this sounds stupid, but is the HF8 controller on with a lit LED? You might also try a different USB port. Hope this helps
  13. New episode of the "Mover and Gonky Show" will stream live tonight featuring Wags as a guest host.
  14. Thanks for the reply BigNewy. I did update the Nvidia driver from 531.41 to 545.84 and now everything works correctly. A good visual clue for me was that the shortcut icon for DCS changed to the new style upon updating the driver.
  15. DLSS and DLAA are both greyed out for me. I am using DCS standalone Open Beta with multi-thread, VR, and a RTX 4090. Multi-thread is confirmed in the lower right of the menu screen. I have tried with Windows 10 HAGS on and off with no change. I also tried launching DCS directly from the bin-mt folder to eliminate the VR/XR arguments in the executable. No change. Any suggestions?
  16. Well said. I too have had my Crystal for several months. Coming from a Rift then G2, the Crystal has delivered the best VR DCS experience I have ever had. I convinced a close friend to get a Crystal and his experience mirrors mine. Does the comfort of the headset need to be adjusted for the user...you bet! So did every other VR headset I have owned. With any VR headset read ALL the reviews you can, then buy from a retailer that has a 30-day "no reason" refund policy, like Amazon. Really play with the headset for the 30-days then make up your mind if it is for you or not. PCVR is NOT console playing and a "plug and play" VR headset has never existed upon initial release.
  17. I have been using HonsVR prescription lenses with my Crystal for about two months and love them. I ordered directly from HonsVR and they arrived very quickly with good customer communication throughout the delivery process. Clarity is great and, with the Crystal, VR has never looked clearer. There is little space in the face mask and I did install a Samsung Odyssey Plus face pad from VRCover. You can get the face pad through Amazon. This face pad solved several problems for me. It gave me the space for the lenses, eliminated the light leaks I had on the sides of the face mask, was more comfortable, and easier to clean. I did lose a little FOV, but short of wearing contact lenses you will not be able to get around that. Eye-tracking and Foveated rendering work flawlessly with the Crystal and HonsVR lenses. I have the resolution turned up to 200% and now the VR image easily rivals my monitor. I too came from a G2 and the Crystal is DEFINITELY the next generation upgrade to the VR experience. As with any VR headset I would recommend ordering through a place like Amazon that allows a 30 day "for any reason" return policy. VR is so personalized it is the only way to ensure a good purchase. Hope this helps.
  18. I decided to try the Next Level Racing HF8 haptic seat pad. It works out of the box with SSA and I am very happy with it.
  19. I had the same problem. In the Vaicom control panel (alt+ctrl+C) go to the "Reset" tab. Make sure the "LUA code" box is checked then press "Master Zero". Restart Vaicom and DCS. That got it working for me. Hope this helps
  20. I have the same question. Currently looking at the HF8. Any suggestions?
  21. Sorry, I meant at the bottom of my post: i9 10900KF 3.70GHz (5.30GHz Turbo), MSI RTX 4090 OC 24GB, ASUS Z590-E GAMING Motherboard, CORSAIR Vengeance 64GB DDR4 3600MHz, 2TB Intel 660P M.2 NVMe SSD, Virpil Alpha Joystick, T-50CM3 Throttle, MFG Xwind rudder pedals, Pimax Crystal VR.
  22. I am a first time Pimax customer with a pretty high end system (see my signature) and I recently upgraded from a Reverb G2 to the Pimax Crystal. I have had the Crystal for two and a half weeks with approximately 30 hours of usage. I use VR strictly for DCS. The short story is the Crystal was worth the money for me. Excellent clarity, better FOV, better sound, and better darks. Compared to the Reverb G2, this is a definite upgrade to the next generation of VR. Based on all the horror stories I had read, my biggest apprehension was dealing with the Pimax company. I pre-ordered the Crystal beginning of May and received an e-mail for payment beginning of July. Two weeks after payment, I received another e-mail telling me there was a delay in shipping. Pimax apologized for the delay and, as a token of gratitude for my patience, they gave me a $30 credit for their store. The revised projected shipping date came and went. A week later I created a support ticket inquiring about the status of shipping. An hour after submitting the support ticket, a Pimax representative replied back to me that the HMDs were shipping that week. The next day I got my shipping and tracking number notification. Less than a week later I had the Crystal in my hands. Set-up of the Crystal went smooth with the exception that the supplied powered USB hub had a loose jack. I submitted a support ticket and also contacted a Pimax representative on Discord. Within 24 hours Pimax advised a replacement hub would be sent out ASAP. The biggest issue currently with the Crystal is battery life. The HMD hardware IS able to keep the battery charged without the use of the supplied powered USB hub or battery hot swapping, but it is hit or miss. Initially I was able to put 14 ½ hours of DCS play on the battery without needing to change it. I lost HMD connection due to that defective power hub and after that I could only get 2 hours of play before a battery swap was required. The battery hot swapping does not work in DCS and requires a restart of DCS. Changing HMD connections directly to the motherboard without a powered USB hub suddenly brought back the battery charging. I currently have a little over 10 hours of play without a battery change being required. There is also a work around utilizing a charging port and additional cable to the HMD that provides unlimited battery life. Pimax is working to resolve this issue. There are many features of the Crystal that are in beta testing, including wifi, improved controller tracking, improved battery life, eye tracking, auto IPD, and dynamic foveated rendering. My experience with Pimax has me convinced that these features will become a reality, but if any of these are an IMMEDIATE MUST HAVE for you, then I would recommend waiting to purchase a Crystal. I found Pimax customer service to be good and quite different from the horror stories I have read. In the short time I have owned the Crystal there have been several updates to the software and firmware. This shows Pimax is working hard to improve the HMD. The release of Pimax’s Crystal and its current issues are common with PCVR. Even the Reverb G2 (which is now considered one of the best “plug and play” VR headsets for the PC) started out with firmware/software problems, cable issues, and even such basic features as an ON/OFF button were missing. I think the Pimax Crystal is the best VR headset for DCS currently. For the price, performance, and current features it is a good upgrade. As the new features come online it will only get better. It is a lot of money, do your research, and I hope this helps.
  23. If you are happy with your current VR experience and not sure, then wait. At least until it is available on Amazon where they have a 30 day money back guarantee. I did this when the Rift came out and was glad I was able to return it. Couple years later I got the G2 with the same return policy and have been using it ever since. VR is VERY personalized with regards to fit, visuals, sound, etc, and buying from a place that allows full money back returns is the smart way to go. That said, I got my Crystal yesterday and I am thrilled with it. You are right that coming from a G2 it just makes sense to upgrade to the Crystal. Hope this helps
  24. Thanks for the reply. Yes, it appears to be a terrain elevation problem that only affects the P-47. All files are updated and I have posted this on multiple DCS forums with the track file. All I can do now is wait for a solution.
