Dear DCS developers,

This is a request for improved immersion for helicopter operations.

I believe that there is an awful lot more that DCS could do to widen the focus on helicopter operations and the relevant associated details to improve immersion.

A lot has been done for carrier operations with ground personnel interacting (waving/signalling/marshalling, etc) on the carrier deck and other immersive improvements.  I would like to request that DCS turns it's attention to helicopter operations in a similar manner.  To also include things like seeing troops/personnel in the back of helicopters, including embarking and disembarking, smoke being dispersed by moving rotor blades, etc.  Helicopter FOB/FARP and Landing Zone operations could be so much better if interaction with ground personnel was included similar to super carrier operations.

Thank you for considering this request.

Happy landings,

Well, all land based ops deserve these features.

As someone who at this point mainly flies helos, I'd love to see your wish come true, but in all honesty, it'd be quite weird if ground crew were to only be implemented for helo ops.

In fact, I expect it to be much more simple to implement ground crew for land based fixed wing (airfields), rather than rotary. As us rotorheads also tend to randomly decide to land in the middle of urban or rural areas.

However, shorter sorties and more constant occurrences of landing and taking off and picking up and disembarking passengers are a larger key feature for helicopter operations generally.  If DCS has taken a first step with carrier operations then another step in terms of helicopters could be the next logical step for a graduated approach.  Much easier to deal with a small FOB/FARP or operational LZ than every large airport.  Seeing troops in the back is a large part of the job for transport helicopters and dispersing smoke (including LZ signal smoke) would very much add to immersion.  Ground and air attack aircraft get the pleasure of seeing the effects of their weapons on enemy targets as job satisfaction and I think it would be a good feature to actually see what I am transporting when I look to the rear cabin in a transport helicopter.

Happy landings,

"Being able to see troops in the back": 100% agreed

Why we still have to use a mod for this, while the Huey is over a decade old, is beyond me. Even some simplified static infantry 3D models would be better than nothing.

Moving ground crew and proper ground crew handling/procedures though, is a different story and will be much more challenging.

I think DCS could do well to improve our helicopter flight simulation immersion similar to the following screen shots.
