Hello,
I am François, retired info developer.
After creating a Boeing 737 cockpit with my brother (www.737project.com) I am starting to create an A10 cockpit using DCS.
The "Main" part is almost finished, d

I would like to assign him a PC which will be used only for the simulator. This is the configuration I have in mind,
but I don't have much experience on this subject so I will need your expert opinion. (LDLC CONFIGURATION)

The question is for AMD Ryzen 7 or Intel I7 processor? The price is not the same.
Thanks a lot for your help

François.

Hello,

Seems like a really nice PC spec, but I prefer that other more hardware knowledgeable people, like @kksnowbear, give better advice than I could. Just wanted to say that your 737 cabin seems really superb, just visited your weblog. 👍

Best regards,

Eduardo

I'd personally opt for air cooling with a 7800X3D. It doesn't use that much power and air cooling is more reliable, durable and less risky. The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE cooler is a very good option.

DCS (and MSFS) can make use of a lot of RAM. Given your level of spending, you might want to go for 64 Gb: G.Skill RipJaws S5 Low Profile 64 Go.

The case you selected is more suited for silent PCs that do low intensity gaming. I'd suggest a case with better airflow, like the Corsair 4000D Airflow or Fractal Design Torrent.

A single 1 Tb/To drive is very small. I'd go for at least 2 Tb.

You can save quite a bit of money on the Windows key on the grey market.

Indeed, grab 64GB and go bigger than 1TB for DCS, 2 or 4 TB is more adequate.

No need to pay THAT much for Win11,  check guru3d.com website for example, they have plenty adds that let you buy Win11 for a fraction of what you listed.

Tbh, haven't bought any MS license the "old" way for years, and it's 100% legal.

You may find these videos from hardware unboxed helpful.  They have more, but I will link 2.  I've been reading some Asus forums, and I think Asrock has been doing better than the main company.  At least for now.

Yes to a 2 tb drive. Between DCS, and another flight sim, my SSD is getting full.

Very nice work on the cockpit.

Whaoo ... Thank you all very much for all this information.
I will compile all of this and I will come back to you to tell you what I have ordered.
Do you have any idea on the choice of processor?

Thanks for the videos I will watch them with interest.
