Problem when switching up to 120Mhz

I have a Crystal. Since Ive owned it, I have tried switching up to 120Mhz several times over the last few months. Most of the time it causes issues with freezing up.

Tried it again today and flew 2+ hrs, beating up the RWY16 pattern at Beatty, and hitting the tanker.  Was getting anywhere from 75-110fps. All was well until I had to take a break.

I 'shut down' the headset in the program. When I came back to start it up again, I had alot of issues with it freezing up my computer.

I had to go into Task MGR and end the program multiple times just to get things moving to start over.

I can't provide any proof, but it felt like at least an hour before I could get into the Pimax Play settings and change it back to 90Mhz without it freezing up before I could do so.

Now that I got it back to 90, it starts up and runs without issue. And it has been like this from day one.

Anyone else have this problem?

Just curious if anyone has, and if they have a solution?

Thanks for your input! 😁

Yeah, the software is bugged, does the same thing getting stuck in smoothing mode for me, can't get back out no matter what the settings selected display.  Best way is to fire up a completely different game and than it seems to switch.  Otherwise it takes multiple attempts and selections of settings applied to get it unstuck.  It doesn't get stuck every time but when it does its a pain to get out.

Also pay attention to heat levels in 120 hz mode, several users have reported their screens on the left side blow out with the cord connection area getting extremely hot.  I've only messed around with smoothing on in 120 mode, seems to keep cool with frames locked to 60, and still getting that 120 smoothness.

Did it only happen when the refresh rate was switched to 120Hz?

I doubt it's related to the DP cable. Please file a support ticket and share the ticket number with me.

However, you might want to try wiping all Pimax files and folders and doing a clean reinstallation.

AKAIK my Crystal didn't really get what I would perceive as 'hot'. Maybe just warm to the touch. I just don't want to take the chance of damaging it.

My main issue was the inability to switch from 90 to 120, and stay at 120 after shutdown/restart.

If your headset can't maintain 120Hz, it's likely that you need a new cable. Please file a support ticket and report the issue, and our tech team will assist you.

Droopy , I had this same issue at 120Hz . DCS would freeze or I would get a Terrible static noise in my Speakers . I don' know if this is correct but I think it is DCS FPS being Lower than 120 FPS and the Pimax set at 120 just goes out of Sync....I tried to set DCS FPS at 120 but that is a big ask for a 4090 ! ...I have settled for 90 in Pimax !
